I am 22, and have never known what it is like to be thin. I am only learning now what it is to eat healthy. I don't usually have a problem but I have been put on lithium and all I want to do is eat and eat and eat and eat!
If I dont get what I crave I get teary and cry and scream like a little child. Am I a freak?
How do I get through these cravings? What do I do?

" I went on lithium once (for a short time) and had the same response- it is changing the chemicals in your head, so it makes sense for some. This drove me crazy, and I asked my doctor because I did not feel it was good for me to be obsessing about food all the time. He switched me to lamictal, and I stayed on that for years with no side effects. I currently don't take meds, but that one seemed to help. Are you bipolar? Why did you get the med in the first place? "

" I can relate, I gained a lot of weight when I was on lithium... I also switched to lamictal. I know there are also other mood stabilizers out there to try, so maybe talk to your doctor about switching. You're not a freak! "
