12 Step Program - OA or Food Addicts in Recovery?

I attended a FA meeting tonight. It was so similar to OA. I was told I need to attend three meetings a week in order to have a sponsor to help me in the program. The problem is, there are very few of these meetings locally. I would have to drive all over Los Angeles to meet this requirement. Not only is my car on it's last leg right now, but I am fearful to drive long distances at night, alone, out of my area. I'm thinking of going back to OA and working their program. There are many OA meetings in my local area, and I could easily meet the three meetings per week requirement. I've been away from OA for well over 20 years, so I'm not sure what changes they've made in their program since then. Can anyone clue me in on their current program requirements, or does it vary from group to group?

" "The only requirement for OA membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively"
There are no other "requirements"
It is suggested though that you try 6 different meetings at first to find one that feels right since every meeting is unique with its own "personality" :)
I also personally suggest finding a sponsor as soon as possible who has strong recovery and taking her suggestions.
Good LUck!
