Does anyone know much about OA? I did go to one meeting and spoke with a sponsor last night on the phone. They seem to really stress the importance of an eating/food plan. I'm scared that if I follow a set food plan I may be more likely to binge because I will feel deprived.

" I agree with what has been written about OA by Nicol.
There are no bosses, it is a program of suggestions.
No one will order you what to do.
Working with a Sponsor will help you to work through the 12 steps. You will not feel alone and you will feel that there is a place to go and be yourself. At least that is what I have found.
When you attend it is probably best to attend 6 meetings to get a feel for OA.
I am not an OA expert as I am a member of another 12 step group but I have attended at least 9 meetings on and off over the last 5 years. My life has been chaotic to extreme and I felt it was best to stick with what I had. However I always felt right attending the OA meetings and always came away with something that was useful for me.
At any rate I wish everyone the best and I attend my first OA meeting in years Monday July 20, 2009... tomorrow.
I have a food plan already, from my Psychiatrist and Periodontist, they came up with it together... well they agree.
Wish me luck everyone and have a great day tomorrow. "

" I should also say I need as much help as I can get.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I have ADHD and Asperger Syndrome and suffer from Gluten and Casein overload... my foodplan eliminates these 2 proteins so I am looking forward to my foodplan and exercise.
I am ready and willing. "
