" This disease is so strange. My girl friend had a water blister on her foot. She popped the blister and two days later she had contracted necrotizing fasciitis, ( NF ) aka flesh eating bacteria. This bacteria will literally eat away at your skin. There is no cure for it other than to amputate above where the infection is. For instance my g/f lost her lef below the knee to begin with then it ad travelled higher than they had expected and they had to do an above the knee amputation. It will also distroy your kidney, liver and heart. This disease travels at apprx. 1 inch per hour. You need to have immediate care. "

" In March 07, I contracted a Strep A Infection in my blood stream which, within 12 hours, led to necrotizing fasciaitis-flesh eating bacteria. I was in so much pain that I was dilusional. By the time they finally figured out what was going on and took me to emergency surgery, they removed 60% of the muscle out of the left side of my back. I was in complete organ failure. They gave me a 2% chance to live. I had a total of 13 surgeries and spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital. But, I'm here to post this, so God's definitely got a plan for me! "

" my nf was in my upper right thigh. i had it for 2 days before i went to the er. i had no outward breaks in the skin. my skin was a dark purple, swollen and painful. within 20 minutes of entering the er they had me under and cutting me open. they don't know why it didn't spread like most cases or even how i got it. it has been nearly 4 months and i have beaten the odds. i am working and resuming where i left off. i have a hard time sitting down or bending over but they said with time it will get better.
i need to know how i caught this. i am scared now of everything. scared i will catch it again. i don't like being this way. "

" To the person who had less than a 2% chance of surrviving and did. You said you were i complete organ failure was your heart/brain compermised as well. I made the decidion to amputate her leg then shut off the machine to let her go to God. I miss my mummy!! I held her as she went through every part talking, begging, praying with her. I held her as my Mummy took her last few breaths.
If anyone out there would like to talk about this disease and anything else please email me. Funeral will be January 12,2009 "
