How do I build stamina?

I want to build up my stamina because I can only run or jog a few feet not even a quarter of a 1/2 mile and I'll be completely out of breath. So whats the best and most effective way to build stamina and lose weight at the same time?

" Hello :)
When i first started running i did not have the stamina i do now thats for sure!
My advice to you is to keep at it everyday, and rejoice in even small triumphs!
if you start out by walking/jogging and build your way up to running that helps too!
consistincy is the key, make sure that you are doing something active atleast 5 days of the week..you will gradually start to see a difference in your stamina!
it is so hard to stay motivated! that is one of the biggest obsticle to most people because the results are so minimal at first it is hard to notice yourself improving...but dont give up it gets better and it is worth it! "

" I found that listening to music, especially something that really pumps you up helps.

Keep on moving...you'll eventually build up your endurance. I used to hate jogging, but I really enjoy it now. "
