Is there someone here that might be able to help work up a fitness plan for someone that has Fibromyalgia really bad and no meds are helping? I am going to try to get a scholorship membership at the YMCA to workout in the swimming pool. I know that is the best place for someone in my condition. but is there anything else that i can do in the mean time? I have alot of fat to get rid of on my belly and theighs... I am 5'6" and 240#. I am considered mobidly obese. 4 yrs ago i was 137# heavier.. alot of it was water and i got rid of it when i had a membership to a gym in a bigger city that i lived in but now i live in a smaller city n there is no place that has a sauna. at that time I took water pills and drank a ton of water and sat in the sauna for a bit, worked out for a bit and then back into the sauna... I would love to do that again if they could just find the right medication to stop the pain for a while during the day and just long enough at night to fall asleep!! Thanks for reading this!! I hope, if anything, to make a cpl friends from here!.. I am Bobbi... Is there anyone else from Wisconsin out there???

" Hi. Sorry, I am not from Wisconsin but I do have FM (Fibromyalgia). I just joined a gym to work out. I am not sure how this is going to turn out but I have found the right combination of meds for me and feel well enough to even try weight training. I know that from my own experience, the less I move around, the worse my fibro is. Until Thursday, I worked full time. Friday, I was in despair and spent the day laying around and letting sink in, what just happened to me. I was so sore all day. Saturday and Sunday were better as I got up, got dressed and moved around all day.

I have a theory that combined with a 15 minute cardio workout, getting blood flow and oxygen to my muscles and tissue can only be a good thing. I am prepared to give this a try.

I am on the Xyrem Success Program - a program where the pharmaceutical company is conducting clinical trials with Fibro patients using Xrrem. It is sponsored through Jazz Pharmaceuticals. That, in combination with Rilivia, has turned my life around so much so that I would say I am at 80% on the fibro scale. I feel great - well enough to want to join a gym. I would never have thought this 3 years ago when I could barely get out of bed and the pain made me cry daily.

Good luck! "

" Speaking to one Fibro to another I would say. Start on the Weight Watchers Core diet. It is the closed I have found to the fibro diet and you get to make friends and walk and work out together.

Also working out as much as you can helps. The more you work out the more you feel better. You may have to take breaks in the beginning. Swimming is amazing for fibro, but it is hard for me because I am high maintenance. I don't like all the showering after and getting dressed again for the day. Yoga is also something else that works well for us.

Remember and this is a must for us fibro people. Get ride of or limit (limiting is good) the contact with the negative people in your life.

Keeping moving is the key. Even if it is only in BabiSteps. Make yourself walk at least 45 min every day in addition to the Gym if possible outside. The vitamin D from the sun is good for you and it is therapeutic to walk out side.

Last but not least take Calcium with Vitamin D.

Good luck let me know how you are doing.

P.S. One thing I learned with fibro is always fix your self up. Keep your self feeling good about you. Do you hair and nails if you can. I know you are tired, but if you don't feel good about the way you look it makes it worse. I know it is hard to do. It dosen't mean wash your hair everyday. Just comb it. Little tip! You don't have to put all your make up on just lip stick and mascara makes a difference. HUGS:) "

" Im really sorry to hear that. I dont really know about any programs but I do take a vitamin and the other day when I was doing research on it I read that it can be helpful with fibromyalgia. If you want I can get you the information if you would like. Hope the best for you! "
