I'm having a lot of difficulty doing push ups. I can't fully do them on my feet, so I'm starting on my knees, but I'm still having trouble. Any tips?

" Push ups are a core exercise. It works your pectoral (chest) and tricep muscles. Maybe work them a bit and then try:)...Good Luck "

" Do as many as you can every day for one minute. When I started exercising, I could barely do 10 in one minute (on my knees) with time, that number will go up, then you can either start on your feet, or increase the time. The more often you do them, the stronger you will become. "

" Don't get discouraged. Work up gradually. I would start with concentrating on your form first before you try to do as many as possible. In a strength class I was in last year, every two weeks we would see how many we could do in 3 minutes. Every week each person could do more. Other than that we worked them into every workout we did, but focused on doing quality not quantity. "

" To Emily,

The best advice is, don't start on the floor. That would put more than half your body weight on your (currently) weak muscles. Start mereley pushing off a wall, standing, and gradualy lower yourself, to table, then a low chair, then, the floor.

Yours,
D. "

" I also agree with Dorianglass and 4Kimmy2 to start against a wall. When I jog outside, I usually end my workout with pushups and stretches. I find a park bench and put my hands on the back support for the pushups. It is not as difficult, but still gives my arms a good workout. "
