How do I start an exercise program?

I work out about 5x to 6x per week. I walk for an hour and occassionally will add jogging for a mile or so. I need to lose some weight however, I have no motivation to start an exercise program in the sense of lifting weights and doing crunches and stuff. I feel as though I have to do tons of it and I feel as though I don't burn any calories doing it so I don't like to do it. Can someone help me?

Well, they say weights before cardio. Something about muscles and such. Wrkn or JustBlue or someone can give you the reasoning for that. For me (when I do it; I'm so bad about it), it's about getting it over and done with before getting to the cardio that I love. :) Just start small. I have some small hand weights that I use. I'll put on the good music and do it. I tell myself, "no cardio until you finish your hand weights." Just like telling a child, "no dessert until you finish your brussel sprouts."

Just start out small. If your aim is to lose weight you need to increase your cardio. Instead of walking for an hour and jogging some of the way, start with a brisk walk to get you warmed up (5mins). Find markers along the way, like trees, lampposts, park benches, houses etc. pick a marker then jog to it, walk for a bit, pick another marker then jog to it. Do this for 40 mins to an hour. You'll get a much better work out than just walking alone. :) When you see the results it's more than likely that you'll have the motivation to run faster and longer and try the weights again.
Best of luck Emily -Lorraine xo

Well, see the thing about it is, I have a really bad knee and so I'm not able to run. I probably shouldn't be jogging at all but I want to be a runner, but I hear how bad it is for your joints and stuff (i'm a yoga teacher, haha, i'm all about nice joints). So I'm not sure what I should do to get more cardio. I don't have a gym membership because I don't have much money. I do have rollar blades and a bike. Biking is hard for me, maybe that means I should do it more! ;)
