" hello Ina, I had surgery on my left femoral neck in April 2008
I had bone scraped out of the site and bone substance put in
with a 6 inch steel rod and 4 inch metal plate to keep rod in place and to keep my hip from breaking. they diagnosed this 14 yrs ago and bought me some time by putting in artificial bone matter. Realized the site had deteriorated so badly that my hip would have broken if left untreated. I used crutches for 6 weeks and a walker and then used a cane for couple of months. Pain is sometimes quite intense still but at least my hip won't break, You should be walking normal hopefully in no time, let me know if I can add anything else. Take care and good luck. "

" I was in the hospital for 6 days and did start physio within 2 days.
I had to learn about the crutches and stairs etc. I did have a lot of
support when I got home. I am not sure about where you live but they do offer some in home care. My hubby changed the dressing and because it was a waterproof type I could shower without worrying. I did rent a bathtub bench which was the best investment for showering. My toilet was at a good height for me as I did not have to sit down to low on it. Something else to consider is a toilet seat lift. Hope this helps,, Best of luck Lo "
