I've always discounted the role diet played in my flares simply because I couldn't isolate anything that caused one, and my in-laws are so into alternative medicine that I was put off by it.

After being forced to go on an elimation diet or explode, I can honestly say I'm dumbfounded at how many foods I'm allergic and/or sensitive to. I've had blood tests and a stomach biopsy for gluten intolerance that showed I wasn't but my body says I am.

I've easily lost weight and feel less sick getting the junk out of my diet.

" Doctors say foods don't affect fibromyalgia pain, but I found out years ago that citrus is a greatly aggravates my pain--and I love citrus. Now I eat an orange once a week and that is OK. I thought at first it was just oranges, so I tried grapefruit. Bad news. One summer I started drinking lemon aide. Also bad news. Limiting my citrus was a life-saver for me, but I expect everyone has to find their own triggers. An elimination diet to find problem foods is definitely worth it. "

" I gave up simple sugars and items with added sugar (not carbs) almost 3 months ago and I cannot believe how much better I feel! I knew that I was somewhat hypoglycemic but the reduction in pain and fatigue has been dramatic. I have been able to reduce my dosages on my meds as a result. I lost 20 lbs also which is a bonus! "

" I've done an elimination diet a few times - feeling better each time. (It gets easier with each refresher) It is amazing how much changing one's diet can change one's health and wellbeing. "
