CPAP & aromatherapy

I was internet surfing today and noticed that there is an aromatherapy system for the cpap machine. Has anyone ever tried it and if so what is your opinion on it?
It's the beginning of winter here and although I have gotten away from use of my machine, I think I will practice with it again as the built in humidifier helps with the dry air caused by the furnace running. I so do love falling asleep with scented oils and I do believe they help. Does anyone else believe in aromatherapy? Sassie Posted on 11/07/09, 12:11 am |

I don't know from the cpap, but I do use a lot of aromatherapy to great effect. It has been helpful in relaxing sore muscles & easing me into sleep. I also use it when I have a cold with a clogged nose. What essential oils do you use & how do you use them?

Thanks for the reply, I use them and they help to relax me so that I can fall asleep easier.
I use lavender for headaches, lilac is my personal favorite, rose is romantic and relaxing. I also purchases (from where?) a set of different scents that are mixtures with names like Harmony, Morning Bliss, etc. These I burn alot too. I wish I could remember where on the internet that I bought them. I used to burn incense but lately it irritates my sinuses and now I only use the oils and candle tarts. What do you use and for what?

I would run it by your doctor. It's one thing to breath in the sents from different aromatherapies it might be something else to put these in the water and have the oils end up in your lungs.

Actually you don't put anything in the water. It is a holder that sits behind the filter. You put a drop or two on a pad and put the pad in the holder.
The site said how damaging it could be for the machine to put substances in the water itself. That is why you use distilled water in the humidifier part. But good point, would not want anything to clog up my lungs either. Thanks

Just make sure to buy quality oils... I get mine from young living oils. younglivingoils.com Colleen

That sounds close to what I saw online. It was a little holder that sits next to the filter on the back. You put a drop or two on the little pad, place it on the filter and place it next to the machine's filter at the back.
I made a homemade copy of what I saw and placed a few drops of a springtime fragrance. It was wonderful! My machine is not new but it still smells like rubber and plastic. The fragrance helped me to fall asleep faster.
