Is anyone else trying Savella? I have been on a little over a month and I have noticed that my hands and feet are hot and red but overall I am feeling a little better than normal. My trigger points are worse as I stopped taking the muscle relaxers due to side effects. Has anyone had adverse effects with the Savella?

I have not tried it and will not. My doc had me on another SNRI called Cymbalta and that stuff was total garbage for me. She reluctantly offered this to me after it took MONTHS to get off the Cymbalta because she knew how horrible that ordeal was. I said NO WAY JOSE! The FDA has three meds for Fibro: Cymbalta, Lyrica, and Savella. It is good it is shedding more light on this illness, but I hate that they package it with another anti depressant.
I hope it works for you because I have heard of a couple of people who had success so far. HUGS JBEAN

Hello All-
Newbie here...diagnosed early this week after years of symptoms. Has anyone been on Savella longer than 3 months? I've found a lot of posts all over the net on starting Savella, but not many past that. Thanks!

I've been on it for 3 weeks. Works better than Cymbalta! I do hope that it continues to improve my pain level, since the pain is still very strong. The fibrofog is almost gone though! :)
No super bad adverse recation, other than insomnia. I take Lunesta, but still wake up by 4AM and just lay there for 2 hours thinking and thinking and thinking. I have not gained or lost any weight. I do have major hot flashes and night sweats if I have alcohol, so I may just stop drinking all together. Bummer. I don't cry anymore over the pain, but like I said, it's still there- sometimes too much to handle.

D,
I have been on Savella for over two months now and it has helped tremendously. I only felt sick when I first started taking it, but after a week I was in the clear. Hope it works well for you!

Hi ~
I just wanted to respond and say "yes I also am taking Savella". I've been on it about four months and am pretty stable now in my dosage and no side problems to deal with at this point -- thanks be to God :) But, it did not at any time affect my hands and feet - so if you have a good relationship and can work with your doctor, I'd check with him/her about anything that concerns you. If I did not feel good about taking something, then I don't. My pharmacist is getting to know me because I'm in there so frequently any more, that I also have conversations with them about meds....they know a lot about them too! Trust yourself. Rely on your instincts, your body tells you things in how it reacts. And work with your doctor. Some days I get tired of telling myself this too - but always I know it is the underlying strength and stability that I need. Peace to you. and trust yourself.

I've been on Savella for almost one month. It was only 2 days ago that I stopped feeling like I was going to stroke out.
I have not been able to get past 25mg twice a day because of the side effects from the adrenaline in the medication. I've never reacted to a medicine like this. I drove my Dr crazy but his staff could have been a little more reassuring. Instead, they said "if you have any symptoms, go to your primary care provider" Okay.....I had to spell Savella for him. He had never heard of it. I couldn't believe that the Rheumatologist was not dealing with side effects from a medicine he prescribed. My PCP ended up calling him in front of me for info. I finally have adjusted to this lower dose. Word of advice: stop taking SSRI's at least one week prior to start of Savella. I believe what I was going through might have been mild serotonin syndrome. Also, the Rheumatologist's LVN and receptionist acted as barriers. Discuss thoroughly any possible side effects prior to start of this med. Effective for pain but takes longer than usual to get past side effects.

I have been on Savella about 3 months now. I dont notice any difference then when I just took antidepressants. The only side effect I seem to have are itchy palms and soles of hands and feet. I take Benedryl and they're gone. My mom tried it and her symptoms came back so bad she had to go back to Lyrica. I was hoping it would for her due to the side effects she has with the Lyrica. But I am hoping for the best. I see my doc the 23rd and we can discuss my concerns about no effects and how we can find out what to do. Good luck too you!

I have been on it about 6 weeks with some very positive results. The only problem I've had is a migrane twice. I've figured out that when I feel a headache starting, if I eat something (toast for instance)it seems to go away. And, the headaches seem to only start up when I don't take the pills at the same time every day. I was on 50mg twice a day but with my doctors approval have cut that in half and am only taking 25mg twice a day. That seems to be enough for me to still get the good results.

I've been on Savella since early September. I definitely thought it was helping my pain levels - I have been taking 1/3 to 1/2 less of my pain medication while using it. I got the hot flashes - not every day and they weren't bothersome so I continued. However, I had a routine blood pressure and pulse check and found that I had a rapid heartbeat and my blood pressure had increased. I called the pain clinic and they said to check with my primary because they didn't think it was the Savella. About a week later, the Pain clinic called and now wants me to decrease my dose by 1/2.
Wouldn't you know - I find something that helps me and the side effects keep me from taking it...
