I have been reading up on my husbands symptoms since the doctors have not been helpful. I'll start from the beginning. In the last five years, he had been having splitting headaches, headaches that would wake him up in the middle of the night. His doctor told him it was an inner ear infection and gave him medicine. Symptoms went away for a week, then came back worse. I took him to the ER when he started talking backwards to me one night and it turned out to be a brain tumour. After having the biopsy done and the tumour being benign, then neurologist has assued us that he should not be experiencing anymore symptoms. However he still has the headaches, mood swings and confusion. I was reading online and found out that it's possible that he has low serotonin levels, so I picked up 5-HTP for him and it has been helping. He is starting to think that he is the unluckiest person in the world. He also has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease about eight years ago, and has had ADD since he was a kid. Now, he is still getting the headaches. Tylenol 1, 2 or 3, doesn't dull the pain. After reading online, I see that he may have fm. Is there any other pain killers besides tylenol that help people who have fm?

" Tylenol doesn't do a dang thing for me. And the pain meds I'm on only vaguely help my pain. It'll take the edge off, but not much more than that. I am on 50mg of Ultram (generic Tramadol) 3 times a day, if necessary. I try to keep it to 1 or 2, but on the bad days I take 2.

Best of luck on pain management - it can be a pain...no pun intended - I just try to not use curse words, as there may be children about. :D "

" Each person is different, some people do well on herbs and natural remedies, while others need to take stronger meds. The best thing most likely is talk with the doctors and see what they have to say. If they seem to blow you off or not take you seriously, seek a different doctor. Just remember it may take a little time to find the right medications. Good luck and let us know how your husband is doing. "

" OTC meds are like sugar pills for Fibro. Actually, I've been tried on many different meds of different types and none, no not one even touched the pain until I started taking 2 percocet a day. Even that isn't great for the Fibro pain but very helpful for the other types of pain I have. It would have to be quite progressed to cause him that much mental confusion. I hope you get some answers soon.

" With Fibro, headaches are possible but not really the type you are describing.

What lab tests has he done? B12 deficiency can cause mania, congestive heart failure, Crohn's, Colitis and an array of other problems and illnesses.

CoQ10 and DHA supplements are great for the brain and heart. Tylenol does nothing for my pain either.

5-HTP works for some people but be sure not to take more than 200 mgs a day (I was taking 100mgs in the morning and 100mgs at night). It is good for headaches, insomnia, pain etc.

Reflexology, scalp, shoulder, neck and back massages and acupuncture may be helpful.

taking a daily vitamin, magnesium and D may help too.

I take low dose Naltrexone every night. It's an antiviral, immune booster and pain reducer. It's GREAT for Crohn's and Colitis.

You have to have the LDN with the lactose filler NOT the calcium carbonate. "

" twodryeyes, I tried numerous stronger meds (Tramadol, Toridol, Neurontin, T3, Paxil, Prozac, Elavil etc.) with NO pain or fatigue relief. I choose natural supplements due to chemical intolerances and that the RX's didn't work. "

" I have gotten migrains and tension headaches since age 12. They subsided some since the Fibro pains took over. The ONLY thing that helps the severe pain of FMS is Hydrocodone for me. Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin, Naproxen..they all do NOTHING for my pains.

The downside for me though is that the Hydro does not help my tension headaches or migraines. I usually have to constantly rub ben gay on my face and head and muscle through the day until I can get home and crash on the bed. :(
I sure hope your hubby can find relief soon!

" did they actually remove the tumour or watching it?...benign tumours can and do grow. My 18 yr old daughter had one removed this summer....
also pain meds usually don't help with the pain in fibro...uptake inhibitors in brain do not work properly "
