Hello! I'm sure you all deal with sleeping problems yourself but do any of you have suggestions for a good mattress or mattress topper? I am needing a new one and want it to be worth the money. Thanks!
Jeannie

" I was thinking about a foam topper as well, however, I have read on other fibro forums that hospital beds have made a big difference with pain and fatigue. I was wondering if anyone has tried a hospital bed, maybe a hospital bed with a topper could work wonders. lol "

" I love my tempurpedic bed. "not" a competitor, but the real brand. It is the only thing i can sleep on and keep my legs stretched out without pain. Only hurts when i roll over.

I tried a generic brand and unfortunately the formaldyhide in it made me horribly sick and then it sank so much i got stuck in it.

I LOVE my bed.

I suggest you go to the bed store and lay on them to pick the best for you. Never buy a matress blind. "

" We have a fairly decent mattress, but since I was dx'd with fibro, I find it too hard. I purchased a down alternative topper, and we love it! I do shake it out periodically in order to fluff it a bit.

It didn't cost that much. Sorry, I don't remember what I paid for it...around $50 or so?? I got it at Marshalls, which is alot like TJ Maxx.

Oh, and we did try a foam topper first, but I did not find it as helpful as this new topper!

HTH.... "

" We paid all that money for a sleep # bed and it really hasn't helped. I wake up feeling like a brittle old piece of paper. I'm so glad to hear that it works for someone. I'm here wishing I had not been so desperate and done more research.
I sleep on the couch alot now. It's cushy foam cushions seem to work better for comfortable sleep and getting up in the morning. "

" I swear by my waterbed, it is the perfect temp for my body and it can be filled to the level of hardness or softness that feels best to your body. "

" Well, I wound up buying a new mattress from Sears. It's a Sealy Postupedic Kason Bay Euro pillow top (maybe not exactly the name but you get the idea! ha!) and although it doesn't feel like it would be that comfortable, I do sleep through the night now. That is something new for me so I think I am going to be happy with it. I got it for 50% off too with an extra 10% because it was over $499. So that made me happy too. Hopefully it will continue to be a good one for me. We will see! Thanks for all your suggestions and replys! "

" Hoping this mattress works for you, am happy that you ventured out and bought a new one, as a comfortable bed can really make a big difference for us!

I, too, have a sleep number, but I have a down filled topper that I put over it, as well. Without the down topper, I could still feel my HIPs hitting the mattress. Now, that I have rhematoid arthritis, too, have to keep those hips happy! "

" A few months ago we bought a Serta Presidential Suites mattress with a real cushy pillowtop and it has greatly improved my sleep and is just the right firmness (not too hard, not too soft) to help with my joint and muscle pain. Good luck on your search! "
