I have tried it, two or three times in the last couple of months to see if it really works for my pain. (I used to be a total pothead but quit long ago.)
It really did not help.
At least one time it caused me to focus on my pain even more. But I didn't care as much.
I wish it did work for me! It would be so much easier than doing all this doctor stuff.

Do you know if it was a sativa strain that you smoked when it made you focus more on the pain? Indica strains are what you want for the pain and I'm SO thankful I found them. I told my doctor that I had started using cannabis for the pain and nausea and he said it was much better and thats how I got off of my meds. I really don't "smoke" anymore, but I vaporize with concentrates and eat hash cookies.

Hmmm, I didn't know all that.
The cannabis around here is grown in backyards by people who have licenses to grow and use MedMJ. I doubt some of them even know what they are growing.
While we are on the subject, can you tell me what it means to "vaporize"? I keep hearing it but have not asked anyone what it means? I'm way out of touch. Back when I quit, everyone was still using pipes, bongs, Hookas and roach clips.

Bongs, pipes, hookah bongs, joints and roach clips, still all in use. As for vaporizing, its basically when you smoke only the THC content from the bud, and not the actually leaves/flower itself. You're also heating the bud indirectly instead of using a lighter, so there's no butane inhalation. It's a much healthier, less harsh way to smoke. As for the concentrates, thats when the THC is extracted from the bud and formed into a hash, also much healthier and much more potent than regular flowers/buds. The cookies I eat are made with hash instead of regular bud, so they're much more potent and work amazingly at easing my pain for several hours and allowing me to sleep for sometimes up to 5-7 hours. Marijuana isn't what it used to be...=] Where are you from?

I'm a big proponent of legalization of pot! I have been working since 1972 in the state of CA for it. AND have used it since then.

The difference in my state of mind is amazing with and without it. My family will go out of their way to make sure I have it. Its either my pot or those mind numbing pharmaceuticals with a list of side effects as long as your arm.

AND yes I have my card and I grow my 6 plants!

Basketmoon! I've been racking my brain over whether or not there was another medical marijuana patient on this board! I'm so glad I found you! =] I definitely still have my bad days and flares, but isn't it amazing how much pot helps?? I'm so thankful we have something that actually makes us feel better without a laundry list of side effects. I'd choose pot over all the chemically altered pharmaceuticals any day! And wasn't the six plant limit ruled unconstitutional? Are you a flower or concentrate girl? Which strain have you been using that's most effective for you? How do you find that it helps you? I'm so glad your family is completely behind you! My bf and all of my friends are always telling me "F anyone who looks down on you" because there are a lot of them! Hope all is well on your end. I used to smoke it illegally over 17+ years ago, something i am not proud of (the illegal part) and don't recommend illegal use. I had fibro then and really wish there was a way to pill it today.

When used it made me almost completely pain free and normal even though those without fibro around me got all goofy.

Because of the addiction I grew, i wouldn't use it again no matter what unless it came in pill form, stopping was very hard for me to do and I only used it once per day or 2 days and grew the addiction.

It does bring the serotonin levels up high which is what they need to do with fibro to make people pain free, i hope they can pill it for find something else to do it with.

I do not use as I have a heart condition but my husband has a degenerative bone disease and he uses it for pain.It is not legal in our state right now but is supposed to be on the ballet next election.I will be voting if it is because it is the only thing that really helps him.When he don't have any his pain is so great that he cannot fuction at all.He hadn't used in more than 20 years until his disease started and pain killers didn't help.

I live in a "pot friendly state," but have not tried marjuana for pain management. One thing I will say though, people who live in "Pot friendly states" need to be aware that growing and/or using pot for medical purposes is still a Federal offence, and though people cannot be charged by the state, people here have been charged with crimes by the Federal Government.

Yep, federal offence...sigh.

I think California is headed in the right direction.
I'm in Oregon. Most folks here still have to fight pretty hard to get a card despite weekly Medical MJ clinics being held. And no one I have spoken to can keep a job while using this for medicine because of Federal Law.

Gone are the days of trash bags full of shake huh?
