I read that L-carnitine can give you energy. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?

" I take Acetyl-L-Carnitine. L-Carnitine was one of the drugs I took with the Atkins diet. Acetyl-L-Carnitine was recommend in one of the books I have been reading about fibro. The bottle says it is for memory, attention spand, and mental performance. I haven't noticed that it has done much but I will take it anyway. I do think it helps with the weight issues. "

" I took L-Carnitine years ago and I didn't find it particularly helpful with losing weight which is why I took it then. Nor did it seemed to help with my energy; but I was depressed, don't think anything would have helped much if I didn't want it to, you know? "

" Add 5HTP and D Ribose plus a super B Complex. Those are a big help to me. "

" I have been doing a lot of research on FM. Recently I read that the reason we feel so fatigued and lack energy is that FM and CFS cause mitochondrial dysfunction. I further read that there are nutrients for mitochondrial enhancement:

CO Q10 is good, I do take this and have found that it helps a bit with nerve pain.

Alpha-Lipoic-Acid and N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) support immune, hepatic and nervous system function.

Combined with the above Acetyl-L-Carnitine produce high octane fuel supplement to enhance mitochondrial energy production.

I have not tried this yet, I just found it online over the weekend. (sorry I don't have the website handy). But I plan to look into the dosage further and give it a try. I am determined at this point to find out how to lessen the effects of this FM and live a better life.

Good luck to you. "

" Thanks to everyone for your replies. I am not sure if I will try this at this time or not. I have also thought of trying the CoQ10 to see if that helps. I am using skin products right now with it in it and it has been great. "
