Ultram can cause seizures. Not to scare you, but there is a reason the doctors will prescribe a certain amount. I don't know if you are on any antidepressants, especially the SSRI's, but the Ultram does have something to do with serotonin. So be careful. The most I have ever seen prescribed is two 50 mg tablets every 6-8 hours as needed. Also, your body can become dependent on these, so be careful when you stop taking them. You should wean yourself slowly over days. I am an RN and I use to take Ultram and it use to work for me, but doesn't any more. I hope it works for you. I take 3 a day but spread out by a few hours instead of so far apart. Like 11 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 3 o'clock and then I usually have to turn to another med because if I take Ultram too late at night I can't sleep. This dosing has worked well for me. You could also try 2 initially and then the third an hour later, this has worked for me as well. Hope this helps:)

I think ultram has alot of acetaminophen in it and I don't think it's a good idea to take alot at once as it can be bad for your stomach. Check it out at webmd or something, or call the pharmacist who filled the script. Be careful!

According to my PDR, 400 mg a day is the max dosage!! However, if you exceed what your doctor prescribed, the pharmacy won't refill it. Besides, I'd be nervous about going over what my dr. ordered. He might know something about its effects with your specific health conditions that you don't! Have you discussed this with him??? Perhaps he could suggest another lesser drug to take with it, to potentiate the pain effect. I'd sure ask! Have you tried taking 1 tylenol every 8 hrs.? Sometimes that will help other pain meds work better. (Ask your pharmacist first if that would be a problem.) And

Yeah, my doctor already had a talk with me about taking some Tylenol along with the Ultram. I used to do that awhile back and it did help, actually. But I heard from a nurse that taking too much Tylenol is bad on your liver, so I quit taking the Tylenol. I truthfully don't know what to do anymore, I have really had it with one doctor telling me to do this and another doctor telling me something else. All I know is I won't live in this constant pain forever!!!!!!!! And taking three Ultrams every 4 hours helps me cope a little better and so far the Pharmacy hasn't said anything to me. My doctor allows me 180 pills a month, to do with what I want.

i took ultram for seven years could take up to eight 50mg a day .got 240 a month went to pain clinic took me off cold turkey never bothered me. have never had it bother me to come off meds. then pain clinic said they sholdnt be took with one of my other meds..gg

Wow, Greatgranny. 240 Ultrams a month. I thought when my doctor gave me 180, that was considered alot. I'm going to have to talk to my doctor I have now, because she's only giving me 90 a month. That's not even close to what I was getting from my previous doctor. She was going to put me on Darvocets, but I told her that med upsets my stomach too much. So, she told me to just mix Tylenol with Ultram. I have to go back on the 10th and I'll discuss it with her then. If not, I have another way of getting Ultram.

I think Tramadol is the generic version of Ultram, but not too sure. I get 180 a month i take six a day. 2 every 5 hrs or so. The highest does they make is 50 mil and you cannot exceed 400 mil a day as well. You ahve to be very careful with what you take with Ultram and Tramadol. Becuase it can cause seizure. I know that with Tramadol you can't take any anti inflammatory drugs either RX or NOT! Also, even though your dr has prescribed it to you and knows what else you are on ask your pharmacist if your other meds are going to interact with it ir not. Because my dr gave me Cymbalta with my Tramadol and i went to fill it and the Pharmacist was like why did your Dr give you a RX for this you cannot take these 2 together becuase it can be fatal!! And can cause toxic serotonin syndrome! Well, my dr knew exaclty what i was taking he wrote the RX's out for me. So it goes to show you always double check wha you are taking with the pharmasist. Even if your pharm. doesn't say anything about it ASK ANYWAYS!! Trust me it could save your life one day.

i take tramadol.. what is the difference ..i dont think tramadol had any tylinol in it.. ultram does.. right??
