I had a virus with a fever for 3 months when I was six years old, fever over 101, then at age 16 I had mononucleosis, then I had mold illness, then I got fibromyalgia, age 44 after a car accident, severe stress, and bilateral plantar fascitis, and then two drug reactions to Effexor and a Scopolamine motion patch, given by neurology to control the vertigo that would not go away after being given Effexor. I had severe depression with the foot pain, as I ran for 30 years, and it gave me endorphins, and health. Raindrop

That's an interesting concept... I did in fact have mono, but way back when I was 12 years old. I think what exacerbated my Fibro was the many years of hypothyroidism I suffered through. I had two separate surgeries to remove 1)goiter 2)rather large (8cm) growth in my neck which called for reconstructive surgery inside my throat and ruined my parathyroid glands. I never felt good after that.

I did -3 years ago. I was moving my family without the hubby and was going through a lot stress. The mono to the fibro was almost back to back and I thought the mono kept coming back and attacking me. It took a long time to found out it was fibro.

Count me in, I had mono then fibro, my WBC also dropped to 2.3 and has never really gone up much above that.

Yes, my fibro and CFS began with mono.

Hmm, we all had mono, and fibro, again, another virus EBV....

I had mono as a teen. I didn't get fibro until I was 40. It was another virus that took me down and then led to fibro. It was human parvovirus B 19, also called fifth disease. I have heard that there is a possible link between mono(infectious EBV) and fibro. It's just one of many viruses that could have weakened our immune/neurological system that then eventually led to fibro.

Crazy concept. :) My Dr. said he thought it was the mono that triggered my fibro.

I had mono when I was 19 yrs old (1976), then had a bad ski crash in 1985 that was followed by the chronic fatigue then after heavy in 2000-2001 chemical exposure to formaldyhide at work for 19 months,after that I came down with fibro. Dx with fibro in 2005. took many yrs and way too many crazy drs to get the dx.

Diagnosed with mono in the fourth grade. At fifteen, I struggled with depression and back pain. Blood tests showed that the ebstein barr virus was still active. At 21, I was officially diagnosed with Fibro. ( That was last year)
