December 10, 2009 is National Salesperson Day = I saw a few of these types yesterday and now I am glad that I was pleasant to them......I would not want to ruin their day by being grumpy to them LOL. Seriously though, I really had no idea how much abuse a salesperson takes until I was one. This may come as a real shock to you, but some shoppers are nuts.....There I said it....Some Shoppers are nuts. It is also Human Rights Day = (No Angel, all Kangaroo Mice do not have rights)....now some of these shoppers that are nuts above would say to me, "Umm Hello Missy!!!!, Don't tell me about the poor salespeople who are so slow, on purpose, and are not trained at all, and double charge me! I have rights too you know!"......I concede this is also true, so how about we make it TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT DAY....... I went shopping yesterday and actually was successful. Yea for me!!!...Today, I am doing a bit more and then I have a doc's appt. I had a hard time getting to sleep, but then slept well last night..Yea....I still have a cold..Boo Hiss....my back is achey Boo.....But overall I am still feeling better than I felt before. It really staggers my mind. Follow me on this one....I bet it will stagger your mind too.....I did not fall asleep for a long time, I am still coughing and chasing my nose around the house (it's running...checking to make sure you are paying attention again LOL} and my back hurts...BUT I still feel much better than I felt a month ago.....I am coming to realize that after a while of feeling like 10 miles of burnt biscuit for so long, I didn't really know what hurt, it just all Hurt......so now, I have complaints that would put some people in bed for a few days, pampering themselves, and I am feeling GOOOOODDD. It staggers the mind! Yes, Ladies and Gents....we are all so used to being in pain, that we don't even know what hurts anymore......then when something starts to feel better (in my case my migraines), we feel on top of the world.....FOLKS, WE ARE ALL NUTTIER THAN FRUITCAKES......It is true, so just go ahead and admit it.....raise your hand, stand shyly, and repeat after me..... "I___(insert your first name here) AM NUTTIER THAN A FRUITCAKE" I have to admit also, that I failed you yesterday. I did not put together the gift ideas in an open journal. I promise to do so today. Please forgive my transgression. Today's Gift. Visit the Dollar Store and get 2 bowls, 1 smaller than the other Gorilla Glue or some apoxy Hit the yard or woods etc and collect branches of colored berries Spray Shellac Spray the berries with spray shellac and allow them to dry Place the smaller bowl upside-down Place the larger bowl on top of the first bowl, so that you end up with a raised centerpiece bowl. glue together Fill a Dollar Store Soup bowl with floral foam Starting at the base of the top bowl lip, go around the bowl, filling in the sprigs of berries, until the bowl is filled and looks like an expensive centerpiece display. Not alot going on this day...just small bits here and there...nothing serious..I don't even think I have an errand to run !! Yippii !! All the Bees are officially in Texas...dean has this last load left to set out & Feed, then he can come Home !! YeaY !! Major Bee loss this year...MAJOR..but, they made us some damn Fine Honey !! we will recoup the lost Bees this spring.. Hope for Everyone a Less Pain Day !! Hugs & Love !

Yep, D......I think we are all nuttier than a fruit cake! Speaking of fruitcake, does anyone here actually like the taste of these things? I have to be honest, I haven't tried one in many, many years. I think my first taste of one set my aversion to this stuff on permanent mode! Also, i can't stand any kind of baked goods with nuts in them. If the nuts are ground to a pulp, than fine. I think it's a texture thing. When I was a kid, I would pull the nuts out of the brownies.
I'm glad your cold is diminishing. And speaking of cold snap....well you weren't but Dakota did......it's only 18 degrees here and we got a couple of inches of snow last night. I think I officially hate winter now. Time to move out west and start my organic farm. Hugs to everyone!

Oh....about the treat people with respect thing....I managed retail for 15 years and yes, there really are some crazy wack job shoppers out there! I once had a customer get upset with my sales associate and called her a monkey. It was a blatant racist comment and for the first time I told a customer that not only did he have to leave the store immediately, but that I would not sell him the shoes he had on the counter, ready to purchase. Funny....he was older than me and much bigger than me, but between the tone of my voice and the look on my face, he just uttered something profane and left the store. I had never kicked out a paying customer before and it felt good!!!
So yes, to all you shoppers out there, please try to be patient to your sales associates. Most of them work pretty hard and deserve your respect. Now for the ones that are talking to a friend on a cell phone and won't givfe you the time of day.....well......do your worst! LOL! Okay, I'm NOT condoning shoppi-violence, but a stern reprimand is not out the question.

Hi my Cold busting friend and ladies!
D....You've gotta have a talk with this cold. I'm sure it likes you as much as we adore you...but you've gotta toughen up buttercup and kick it to the curb! Maybe today should be "Don't be hospitable to your cold Day"! I just see this little germ walking all over you. It's controlling you too, isn't it? Dakota....it is cold up here isn't it!!! I'm staying in, baking and cuddling up to the fire! (which reminds me, I've gotta clean that thing out today too). D, I have worked various retail/ customer service positions over the years. And yes, there has been a few doozies out there. One that comes to mind was when I was working at the Prescription Benefits company. And I took a call from a gentleman who was clearly upset by his coverage. (we didn't create the policies, only enforced them). We, Mr B (for Bomb..that's what I referred to him as) called up one day and shared that he had had it. That he was going to blow the place up. I at first brushed it off, but then he brought it up repeatedly....so, I then alerted the higher up management to listen in. I just kept talking to him to keep him on the phone. We talked about all sorts of things. During this time, police were contacted, reports were taken. Kept things calm the entire time. Then the next morning, I got a call from the officials at the said insurance company Mr B showed up at that place of business and he had a cane with him. When they were not offering him what he wanted, he started to unscrew the cap to his cane and exposed a sword with his threats. This quickly turned into a FBI case. And I got roped into it because I was nice to the gentleman on the phone. Through out my years there I took 3 bomb threats. That one by far took the cake. Mr B and I had a connection. We talked about pets and offered to marry me...I didn't want to say no, so I quickly changed the subject. So, I am always patient with sales reps. I always offer them my smile and time. It's the least I could do. Oh, and when I worked at a gas station for a few years while in college, I would always wear my "In Training" badge. The regular customers would get a charge out of it....and the passer-byers would always be nice to me and appreciated my efficiency. Okay, I'm off to go and do something. Everyone have a great day!

Dakota, Honey, thanks for the offer, but I really hate the cold. Why such a major bee loss? Is it from the cold or from people using pesticides or why? And where do bees go in the winter? Seriously, I know that sounds like a dumb question, but I don't know. Enjoy your day of doing not much of anything.....although, knowing you, you will probably climb up onto the ceiling and wash it or something equally as energetic.
Shari, no, to the fruit cake taste. Although, they do last forever and are heavy enough to be used as weapons, so I guess you could keep one under your bed at night, to use against a burgeler LOL. As for the 18....I am speechless....I hate the cold Celia, from what I know about you thus far, I find it hard to believe that you would ever be disrespectful to anyone. I think you are a real peach. Hey Taz...snow and that cold would make me even nuttier than a nutty fruitcake : ) WonderWoman, you are right,....I admit it....I have become a slave to the cold bug....but NO MORE....OUT HE GOES.....you have inspired me. thanks. As for your Mr. B, he obviously did not know of your Super Powers of compassion and love for all. Silly man to tangle with you....WonderWoman to the rescue.

GGGGooooooddddd mmmmmmorrrrniiiiinggg!BRRRRRR!Its -25 with the wind chill and my son missed the bus.Had to give him a ride to school.30 miles round trip before my brain was even awake. I try and make a crabby cashier laugh when I'm shopping.I use to be in retail also and couldn't believe how nasty christmas shoppers can be!I like treat others with respect day!Thanks for the gift idea D.I hope you get rid of that darn cold!!As soon as I warm up I'm gonna fire up the sewing machine.Have to go back to town today to say goodbye to a good friend.She's moving to texas(I'd like to stow away in her suitcase!)I will miss her alot but we can chat on the phone.OK,raising my hand...I'm nuttier than a fruitcake!I have to be to live in Minnesota!love you guys,hope you all have a good day!(((HUGS)))

Tori, Boy what a reality check this post has been for me.
I am saying, I hate the cold....boo hoo and all that stuff...smack me upside the head now and call me dumbhead....After reading about the snow and temperatures that you all are having, I just can't imagine.....Tori, your son missed the school bus? In Philly, school would probably be canceled if we had -25 degree weather. I really can't imagine what that feels like. I bow to you all. On another note: I finally got together the ideas for inexpensive gift ideas, from people who gave me permission to share....I put the list in my journal and above in the Off-Topic section.

Good Morning, ALL!!!
A little late this morning, as I have been CLEANING!!! D, I know exactly what you mean about feeling bad, but much better, and thinking "THIS IS FABULOUS!!" I, too, am nuttier than a fruitcake!!! LOL Gonna mop and do bookwork today....the workouts are waiting until next week, I think. My old body doesn't wanna start that just yet!! Yes, be kind to salespeople....I used to do customer service at a bank....people can get very testy about their money!!! A pretty, sunny day here, but chilly...of course, it is much milder than most of your climates!! D, feel better and get rid of that cold!!! Hope everyone has a great day, and HUGS from down south :)
