Hanging my head in shame

I haven't been here in a while. My pains was doing pretty good while taking MOBIC. My Fibro doc had me on 7.5mg twice a day and it worked very well. Then I went to renew my prescription and for some reason I decided to look up the side effects (a little late, I know)...What I read scared me enough to take myself off immediately. This medication is an NSAID and it can cause stroke, heart attack, blood cloths, and several other things can come with taking Mobic including blurred vision, which I had and just thought I was in severe need of new glasses. Why in the world would I want to take a medication that can cause me heart problems? So, I'm back to good old Vicodin and Flexeril, which helps me sleep without muscle spasms, but doesn't help with the constant overall pain.
On another note...My daughter in law, Melissa, who has stage 3B IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) has had her second "cocktail" of Chemo. She had hardly any side effects with the first dose except to lose her hair. This last dose hit her a little harder. She's learning she's not invincible. But she's being a trooper, very good attitude about it all.
I've missed you guys! I have no good reason for staying away. I discovered Facebook and that seemed to take over my computer time. I shall correct that as of today. Don't hate me too much, please!...

" So great to see you Sam.
Could never hate you, silly girl. lol
I hear you about the fears of taking lots of these drugs, but due to my overly drug sensitivity, the choice is taken out of my hands. Hope things improve for you, and Melissa.
Sending you some welcome back, caring thoughts.
Gentle hugs, Sherrall "

" hey there you are! i was wondering about you lately.... welcome back and please do stay!

I"m on Mobic and it's the only NSAID that actually works for me with out any stomach pain. all the others hurt my stomach. i can't live with out mobic cause if i stop taking it or even miss a dosage, my spinal arthritis flares really bad and it HURTS!!! and after 7 spinal injections, i think i'd rather take my chances with mobic and STAY on it!

well take care for now and so glad to see you! "

" Hi Sam,
I think it is important to do what you feel the most comfortable with.

No doubt that many meds have some pretty serious possible side affects but some seem to have more serious consequences then others. I have allot of problems with meds so have been limited to what can or can not use. Even vitamins have their issues if not taken in the right amounts and balance.

My thoughts and prayers are with your DIL for a complete recovery from her cancer.

Wishing everyone the best possible weekend they can have. Take care gentle hugs "

" Not everyone has the same side effects or reactions to the same meds. There are people on meds right now that I couldn't take at all. But I hear ya, I was on meds for RLS for a long time without knowing they were causing things I was trying to figure out. Blessings to you and your daughter in law "

" Hi,
If you looked up the side effects of every medication, they would all scare you!! The drug companies have to list every possible side effect even if it's a one in a million chance side effect.
If the Mobic was helping you as much as you stated, I would stay on the medication. Try to be thankful it helps you.
Please remember the people here are so very caring, never hateful.
Take Care,
Hugs to you!!
