I am wondering if Lyrica helps anyone besides those people on the TV
commercials.
If so, what symptoms does it make better and does it make any symtoms
worse?

" Sure ~ it helps some people - not all. And there is a lot of online research that can help you with potential side effects.

For me, it was a start. It made life better. It still left me aching by afternoon and needing a nap.

It was Savella that really made the difference in my fibro pain for me. It is new enough that there aren't commercials ~ but it continues to give me more good days than bad...and for that I am thankful.

Best wishes to you in finding what works best for your body. Trust yourself to know and listen to what it is telling you. "

" Hi. I use Lyrica. I knew that there would be side effects, but I was determined to "push" my way through them. I did and glad of it because I do think that it helps with the overall pain and numbness that I had. I believe it also helps keep the flare ups in check. I also did the same thing when I started Plaquenil, just pushed by way through the side effects, although Lyrica side effects were harder to adjust to.

So for me, for the first 2-3 weeks (especially the first 4-5 days) was pretty difficult with nausea, dizzyness and a feeling "high" type feeling. But I got past all that, and at about 6-8 weeks, I noticed that I was feeling better.

I still get pains I have all the time in specific areas, like my hands and wrists and back. So to help with getting through each day, I usually have to take a Tramadol.

Hope this information was helpful to you. "

" I was on Lyrica for 6 months but all it did for me was make my fuzzy head worse and I stacked on the weight. Besides that Lyrica is really expensive in Australia. I would like to try Savella but it's not even available here!!!

Good luck on finding the right meds, it's a trial and error game unfortunately. "

" I took it for a little over a year. Initially, once I pushed through the unpleasant side effects, I had a reduction in pain and an increase in energy. At the end, I got blurred vision, a lung infection and became suicidal. Withdrawals were Hell. I also started getting headaches just before quitting and I'm still getting them. I can't prove that Lyrica did anything negative to me but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. "

" I was on that for a while. It did help some but I had terrible loss of balance and trouble with finding words when talking. The side effects went away as soon as I stopped taking it. "

" I was on Lyrica for 3 weeks. I didn't sleep good. I felt very very wierd. I was tired a lot, then I had a couple of days when I was euphoric. I felt like my head was stuffed with papertowels. I felt drunk, nauseated, and had headaches and shooting pains in my head every day. The night I stopped taking it I slept 3 hours. After I stopped taking it I did see that it had helped a little with the pain and with my energy because I was worse on nothing. Now I'm on Cymbalta, and although it's not awesome, it seems to help with my energy levels. "

" From what I've read, in the trials, only about one third of the subject were helped by it. Pretty lousy test results IMHO.

It can have some pretty wicked side-effects as well. I have a friend who was on it and messaged me that the day before she had planned out how to commit suicide she was so depressed on it. A lot of meds have suicide as a side-effect!! "

" Oh yeah, how could I forget. I also gained 50 lbs while on Lyrica and then another 10 as I got off. The weight gain came on really fast, too.

This is the true, long term damage. Extra weight puts extra strain on our already weakened systems. "
