I am on work disabilty and have been getting a monthly check from work, not a good one, but a check. I have to go to the doctor every month for in general and for them to fill the disability statement out, fax to disability people. This month of all month's the fax didnt go through by the required date and since docs office didnt check on it and get a confirmation paper that it was even sent for approval for me to get my check, I find out today a check wont come until AFTER Christmas!!!! Now I have a whole month of bills to pay and buy a few thing's for Christmas with no check at all.
People can be so unsympathetic. The girl on the phone from where the check would have come from after talking to the doc assistant tells me because the confirm sheet didnt do through nothing she can do. Just great. Posted on 11/24/09, 04:46 pm |

Don't give up yet hun!
First of all faxing can go wrong on both ends! I'd ask to speak to some form of management who can override a check for you vs waiting until after Christmas! You did your part. Making sure the doc had the forms. The docs office apparently sent it off. The admins at the disability place claim they didn't get it. There is room for error in this method, there fore there is room for an override. (can't tell I used to work in the insurance industry now can you?) Get on the phone. Don't take no for an answer. Also, call the companies where your bills are due and see if they have a hardship clause that allows you to skip a month. It's gonna be a lot of phone time, but you'll be surprised by your answers! Good luck!

Yes, I agree. Don't give up. Get an advocate if you can to help you.
This is also a good reminder for those that need to have meds filled every 30 days that things always fall through the cracks during the holiday's because Dr. Office's close and nobody can be reached. Make sure you are one step ahead and have everything lined up before it's too late. You don't want to run out of your meds during the stressful holiday season.

Disability people or I should say woman called me this afternoon saying I would not get anything until after Christmas and had the nerve to say "If you need your money you can call your place of employment and go through their union benefits rep" it makes me furious I should even have to do their leg work for them. Because the very one that told me that on the phone was the one that made that decision not to send my check. So I will make phone calls and start from there. Thanks for the answers.

I'm so sorry. That's the pits. Just the kind of thing we don't need at this time of year. Hope everything turns out all right for you.
