Ok, so, Ive have had fibro for about 4 years. I have tried a Ridiculous amount of meds, exercises, diet changes etc. I have found only one med that truly helps...Vicodin. What Im wondering is why is that so hard for some people and/or docs to believe? Hmmmmm?? I have been told I needed addiction counseling (LOL) I laugh because I can truly and honestly say Im not addicted. I stopped taking vicodin in June to start Lyrica and OMG!!! I despise lyrica!!! I want to go back to what has always worked for me!!! What do you think?

" I don't think your wrong hun at all for wanting to use a medicine that helps you function in life.

I know for myself. This is the same med that can help me keep moving all day like I used to. I'm only 36. So I should be able to keep up with two little ones and have a clean house. Then be exhausted. Where I now I have to pick and choose, then be exhausted.

There is a lot of controversy over this med. Whether it works on Chronic pain or not. Anyone who has Chronic pain will tell you that it does work.

For me personally, I'm choosing not to use it as I don't like how it brings on the mood swings. Which is a very normal side effect from it. "

" I get frusterated because Im tired of hurting unnesscessarily. Ive have done everything that Ive been asked by doctors to do. Ive stayed at the same pharmacy got my meds from only one doc. etc. I am sick to death of feeling like an 'addict' because i dont want to be in pain.

I have also heard it said that narcotics dont work for chronic pain. Ill bet that it doesnt work for everyone. I am tired of the crazy side effects of meds that are supposed to be 'better' than narcotics. I didnt ever experience some of the worse side effects from vicodin.

Anyways, enough of my rant! "

" You should do what you need to and not worry about what other's think, you have to worry about your pain and what works best for you.
I tried lyrica and could not take it, then switched to savella. Good luck and God Bless "

" Doctors don't know how to treat this illness. There being pushed by the FDA Drug companies and other organizations to push certain drugs whether they work or not.

If you can talk with your doctor I would go with what you feel works for you.

There have been a number of discussion that have pointed out the harmfull effects of lyrica. "

" I take Vicoden too. It helps control my "chronic pain" (in neck/arms) but I haven't found that it helps my Fibro pain. I've never have any crazy side effects either. Thankfully, my doc. doen't question my need for them. What type of doc. are you seeing? Maybe you should see a pain mgt. doc. If Vicoden is the only thing that gives you good pain control you need to speak to your doctor, if he won't listen maybe another one will.

Good luck! "

" Just because it's an "addictive" drug it doesn't me we are addicts. We are dependant on them because we have "real" daily pain ! Addicts are people who take them for "fun." Stick with what works for you ! "

" An addict is someone like ouchy said. They crave the drug, for a high or whatever. We take meds for severe pain and fatigue.Sically acceptable drugs, poisoned me, and I have never been the same. I was on Vicodin with no side effects, it just helped my pain and fatigue, but got tolerant, as I had too much stress, and no one told me I had fibro, and to rest. They all thought I should work two jobs, take care of my parents , and my sisters did nothelp. I could not pace myself. Now I am learning, a lot, but I am so much more ill, I need an advocate to take me to doctors and try to find someone compassionate, and knowledgeble. "

" if it works who cares addiction or not addiction? just my opinion...it is difficult enough to find anything that works what so ever....so, if it helps ...take it! Life is tough enough! "
