I have been taking neurontin in three doses , 300 mgs, three times aday. Problem is, it is making me even more exhausted than normal (bad enough i need twelve hours sleep per night). Is it just as effective to take in one big dose at night? I mean if i take it during day it just makes me zonk on couch. Im not noticing a big difference in pain yet, it has been a bit over a month.. so frustrating...

I take 600 mg of neurontin 3 times a day. At one point I cut it back too 300 mg three times a day, however, after a while I did notice my pain was steadly increasing.
The pain became to much to handle so I increased back to 600 mg. I know for me, that I started out slow and was increased up to what it is now. My doc told me that 2400 mg a day is the max! I wanted him to increase the dose but he wouldn't do it. I would be really concerned about taking that 2400 mg at night. Do some research about dosage on that. Hope this helps.

With Neurontin, I took the small dose - then it didn't work so doc added more. After awhile, that didn't work, so doc added more. He says, it's nothing, that he can prescribe up to 7 bizillion (just kidding - I don't remember what the cap is).
The thing is, I was just getting loopier and stupider and my docs only solution was to up the dose higher and higher - and it still stopped working after a month or so.. I had to quit taking it. My last two kids were in high school and there's a lot of parenting to do at this stage that requires adequate brain function. Now we're being told that Neurontin causes brain decline. I found other ways to deal with my symptoms. I'd encourage anyone to go a more natural route.

Here's a link to the article I found about neurontin and brain decline. I don't know who this person is. It makes a person wonder what these pills really do.

I believe the doc has you spread out the dose so that it works thru out the day. Because 1 dose will not last the whole day.
I know some docs will have you take your dose at night if you get groggy. But that is just the nighttime dose. You should not take all 3 doses at once.

The short answer is no. You can not get the same effects as you would by spreading them out during the day.
Your body can only absorb so much at a time. It is not stored in your system and slow release medicine. If you take them all at once, you will just expel any that your body can not absorb. However, you should check with your doc before you change your dosage
