I know you will all understand! my laptop died and I asked my husband if I could buy nephew's laptop. just a side bar... I use my laptop in bed, can lay down and use it. and I use to work from home it was my work computer.

he goes off that I don't work anymore so I don't need one..we have a desktop computer and thats good enough for me to use!

I hate fibro so much!!! hate asking for money and explaining why I need it!!!

arggggg thanks for the help!!

" Hi Purplemoon,

The way it works at my house is you hve to show why! Figure what you'd lose if you couldn't work from your laptop and how quickly you can pay for it. Just have to figure out how to have him thinks it his idea.....then it will be a 'good' idea.

Good luck! "

" I totally understand the desire to use a lap top in bed. I got a lap top and while i was disappointed I lost the use of my key board (I swear it didnt make my hands cramp like the standard keyboards do) I cherish the fact that I can use the laptop in bed. ALso the fact tht I can stick the laptop on the toliet and watch my tv shows while I take a bath.... "

" hi,
sorry to hear you're going through it. i can understand. i ended up getting divorced because there was no way i could handle being with someone who didn't respect my health problems, plus the added stress made my fibro worse. i know it's hard for loved ones to understand and even stay with us who have fibro and other health problems , but it's even harder to actually live with it when we actually have it. ya know? hang in there.:) i always thought it would be great to have a laptop for the same reason.:) maybe someday.:) "

" Hi purplemoon, I am so sorry your are going through this. I so understand all you are saying. I too hate this fibro, and what it has taken from me, and the fact I have to ask for every thing, and feel like I need to justify every thing. Life can be so tough at time.
I sure hope you get what you need, we need to feel like we are connecting to other that understand what this is like, with out this group, and the support, advice and love I get here, I would be so lost.
Sending you some caring thoughts.
Gentle hugs, Sherrall "

" If it were my hubby, he'd come home to find the desktop computer SOLD and I'd have my laptop on the bed! LOL

Do what you need to do and don't take no for an answer. Tell him yes, you do work, you are working on getting less pain and feeling better, and the way to do that is with a new laptop! "

" Good Beans, that man sounds super controlling. Sure hope he never gets sick of anything and expects your comfort!!(know thats a bit of an evil thought)

The lap top has been one of the few ways I can communicate with the world. I cannot sit upright for very long at all. (I also have osteoarthritis in both knees so my feet and legs swell if I am upright) I do best in bed or propped up on the couch with lots of pillows supporting my owie areas, and keep those stress points away from making any pressure on them.
I do understand totally a need for a laptop! "

" Is your old one even fixable? I found a great guy who does computer fixins and charges much less then the local stores do. And get this...he comes right to the house and is easy on the eyes!! "

" If you are finacially strapped right now I can understand your husband's point of view, after all it is not easy for our partners that we have FM, they suffer too. If that is not the reason then the hell with him....go buy you one! "

" I am with Carrie on this one. . .Just because you are not out earning a living doesn't mean your needs are not to be given any respect. "
