Greetings,

I was diagnosed with FMS in July. I have experienced a manageable amount of pain using Neurontin 400 mg 3 X daily. The pain has been from the shoulders to the small toe on my right foot. I also take Norco for pain . Last week I started a new medication, 60mg of Cymbalta once daily.

My question has to do with pain experienced by folks with FMS. Over the last few days I have had a constant pain in the center of my back a little above the center. It has been constant but not disabling. In the last hour I have had two instant attacks that have been extremely painful. They had come on without warning and have been so severe that I have cried out.

This pain is unlike anything I've experienced before. It is horrific. Then a minute later its gone. I'm moving again but still feel some pain. Then instantly it returns. I cried out in the store earlier and couldn't help it. It was embarrassing.

This is all new to me, can anyone tell me if this sounds like what you experience? Thanks so much in advance. I'm going to bed now.

" Handling the Attack...once you Know it is Not something that is gonna Literally put you down, Over time becomes Second nature...for real...Just a Brief Pause within your life is all you will Notice after awhile..

My Husband and I will bee walking along...I stop...he stops right with me...I deal with whatever by "Breathing thru it"...and he jusr talks to me...and we go on..

Seems impossible...but it does get to that Point after awhile..

However...Any NEW OR Worsening OLD Pain PLEASE Always have checked...Especially if in a Vital Area !! "

" OK, this one is easy. If you're in a store, restaurant, theater, etc... and something happens suddenly and you can't help but scream out, people are going to look at you like what the heck? Then all you have to do is yell "SNAKE!!!!!" and everyone else will start screaming too and you can get on with what you were doing. No problem. ;-) "

" Alrighty Zawg... you are actually on the Fibro train now for sure!! Everything you are experiencing is real and true... unfortunately...it will only get worse as time passes. I have other issues besides fibro, like degenerative bone disease that adds to my lovely daily pain... so I am not sure what it is like to live with "just" fibro and the day to day living with it is like...

Hang in there, we are all here for the same reason, to ask questions, lend support, and to rant and rave at times!! Glad you joined us!! "

" yeah, me too, i think it's gall bladder pain. that's about the worst of it. call a dr. get some diagnosis. if he doesn't know what it is, get another dr. i suffered for years with a bad dr. who thought i was crazy, and it was gall bladder full of stones. i kept the stones. refuse to live with pain now. get help. be proactive. love yourself. you deserve to be taken care of. " meant to say, i kept the stones, but through out the gall bladder. they're pretty little white pieces of calcium. look like chalk. but they can kill you if your liver gets stuck, or bile ducts get stopped up. so see a good g.i.doc. turned out i had ulcers, and an infection, and the first dr. was just a nincompoop. better luck for you. " This is a very strange illness, what you are experiencing does not seem all so unusual, but get it checked out to make sure and see if you can find some things that help relieve it.

Hugs and prayers that you find answers,
Pam "

" sounds like me most of the time. Atleast your 'normal' as far as us FMSufferers are but yeah, Hope you feel better soon. Its seems to me that one really good night of sleep makes the pain slow and reverse a bit so its barable.

Hope you feel better soon... "

" I am sorry to hear you are having so much pain. I call those kinds of pain charley horses. They are just like the ones we have all had in our legs or feet. It is almost impossible to stay quiet when they strike. Even very healthy people get charley horses so they can understand a little of what we are going through. Just remember those "normal people" jump around crying out when they get charley horses. Give your self a break fibro is horrible enough to deal without worrying what strangers think about us. Hang in there. "
