Hi all...

Well I am truely overwhelmed. I have a storage unit that I was unable to even get into for over a year because of payment issues. Well tuesday I managed to pay off the balance owed and now I can get in my storage unit. It has ALL my furniture minus my beds and my dressers for me and my kids, as well as all my house hold stuff. I boxed all this stuff up nearly a year and a half ago. At the time I was in a hurry and didnt mark any boxes and was in a much bigger place. Well Im 31 weeks pregnant and NEED a lot of the stuff in there. I also know that I need to sell a lot of the stuff in there. Also the storage is in a different town over 70 miles away and the cost to moveit to my town is going to be expensive.

I dont know how to even begin approaching this task. My husband is deployed so he cant help me sort through it. I am going to have to hire my sons friends to help move stuff. But I need to sort through it all befor I pack a u haul to move it to the house. I would like to yard sell a lot of it in the town its all in as it a small town and yard sales are much more sucessful there. I cant do much being pregnant and on modified bed rest either. But at a whopping 240 a month fee I need to adress it soon. Plus I need to know what I have in there for baby befor I do much more shopping. And the cost for 2 months storage would pay for the u haul....

Ugh any suggestions on how to tackle this prodject??? Between my breathing and my fibro I knwo I cant really tackle it....

" You know what would be an awesome solution. If you could find a church near the storage place and go to them and ask for help. It may take going to more than one but, you may find one that would have people help you go through the stuff and then even let you have the yard sale in their parking lot. And then maybe even help you move the rest to where you want it. Some churches are really good about doing this kind of stuff for strangers. They feel blessed to be able to help someone in need. "

" What about that (PODS) portable storage company? I believe, they box everything up and deliver the pod directly to you? I have no clue what that would cost but it might be worth it. Least then, you'd be able to go inside the unit at your leisure, maybe even sell stuff directly out from it?

" Can you just move everything to where you are now?

I am sort of in the same situation. I just downsized to a small condo and everything is boxed up and packed to the roof of an 8x10 storage unit. Everything is packed in so tight that I can't go over there and find anything that I need. Now I'm thinking I need to sell the refridge and washer/dryer but am not allowed to sell from the storage lot. I have no garage or storage at all where I'm at so I feel stuck. Will that stuff be in there for the rest of my life? What if I can't pay for the storage unit anymore? I don't know what to do about it.

I think the church idea is a really good one. When my mother-in-law died all her children couldn't be found and I was too sick to help. The church came in and organized everything, held a sale and pretty much too care of everything. "

" I am so sorry you are going through all this sounds pretty stressful. I think the church is a good idea. If you can not get that help... It sounds like maybe if you plan to bring all back to where you live now maybe could wait to go through it all till it is moved/ Then you could relax and go through one box at a time. Because I moved into a muucccch smaller place as I unpacked I also repacked all the things wanted to get rid of ... if you want to have a yard sale can mark things and repack them into boxes so they are ready for your sale.
It sounds like your husband is in the military so maybe the veterans have help to for this kind of situation. The Salvation Army is helpful in different situation too.

Take care gentle hugs "

" I think the church idea is great ! Cut loose anything you don't need. Sometimes all that "stuff" isn't worth the expense. I figured if I kept all my stuff in storage(at the rates here)I coulda replaced it all cheaper. That's quite a task for someone with Fibro let alone someone that's pregnant with Fibro ! Hiring kids is a great idea ! Fast cheap help !! I tried the yard sale thingy twice and it was exhausting ! Never again. I just drop it off in the Goodwill boxes. "

" I did run into a problem with paying the bill for a long while. I had a bill of 1600$ and it was multiplying at 240$ every month. talk about high intrest rate. At least a credit you can cut up and pay off.... ugh but when thye haveyour stuff hostage then what??? I finally got an intrest free loan from a source of emergancy funds and was able to pay off the bill so that I could get the stuff out of storage and stop the madness... Thing is I probally could have replaced a lot of whatwas in there after a year and a half of payments to that damn place but there was stuff in there that was irreplaceable like baby memories.... ultra sounds and babys first pictures.... heirlooms and stuff....

I am gonna look into the curch thing I think. I dont want to bring all the stuff bACK HERE AS I wouldnt have anywhere to put it... like my washer and dryer... and some of the furniture. BUt I may just bring everything else back here and sort through it box at a time. I may even try the local veterans places up there and see if they will help. The only thing I see as being a problem is the fact that I moved out of the town that my stuff is in. THey are a small tight knit community and do help thier own. MY parents still live there so I can use that but I dunno if they will bewilling to drive the 70 miles to my house.

I also looked into the cost of a UHAUL and its going to be cheaper then I thought. When Imoved up tothat town it ran me 500$ because they wouldnt do a one way trip... but I managed to get a quote for one way :) and so its less the 200$ which is much much more doable. now even if the churches wont help I can round up 50$ a kid times 4 kids and pay em that way.... so for what I thouhgt the total cost of the uhaul was going to be not including the man labor I can get the truck and labor!!!

I really dont want my house to be full of boxes but I dont want to pay out the bum for storage any more either... All the dust from the boxes will really play havoc with sinuses thought. JUst not sure how I will manage to get this all done befor baby comes since I am kinda on bed rest cause I cant breath much.... UGH "
