So last night - I started what felt vaguely like a flare - just more muscle pain than the nerve pain I generally get. However, I got my "fever headache" took some tylenol and in about a half hour it went down to the point that my pain wasn't in a 10 or 11, but more between a 5-6. It has since jumped back to at least a 9, if not a ten - can't tell as well - because i'm freezing - even under my electric blanket.
However, today - it seems as though everything has gotten worse. My temp earlier didn't go above 99.8, but my normal resting temperature is 97.3 or there abouts. Tonight, though, my temperature sky rocketed from 100.3 to 101.8 in a matter of ten minutes. I've taken two tylenol, and two excedrines (because we don't keep aspirin around the house) and I've tried a luke warm bath - which to me was freezing, and it hasn't dropped below 101.5. Which for me - is pretty high. So I think I've caught the flu, or some sort of maniacal cold bug, and I'm looking for good advice to get a temperature down without resorting to too many drugs or an emergency room, because I don't have health insurance of any sort. So - thoughts? Posted on 11/04/09, 11:11 pm |

I'm sorry your so sick. I wish I coudl make you some chicken soup and put a cold cloth on your head. Sounds like the dreaded swine flu. It's going around here in Maine too and no swine flu shot in sight. Soft Gentle Hugs...

Lots of fluids. One of my daughters has it too and she has just been resting and drinking a lot of fluid and eating chicken noodle soup. Her fever broke tonight but she is still feeling yucky.

Stay wrapped up and please don't get dehydrated. People are being put in the hospital where I live because they are getting dehydrated with this mess. Please get better.

Hi Calistal, I am so sorry your feeling so crappy. I too have been ill for the last few days, or closer to a week now. It makes things so much harder on us.
Every one has given you the best advise. Drink plenty of fluids, chicken soup is the only thing I have been wanting, mainly the broth. I know my Dr. told me that this was going to make my fibro symptoms, much worse, oh joy to us. And to keep warm. Wish I had some magic advice for you, me and us all. One day at a time, is all I got. Hope you feeling better soon. Sending you some warm, healing thoughts. Gentle hugs, Sherrall

Thank you all so much! Its good to hear that the extra fun pain I'm feeling isn't some freakish reaction to being ill. Lol. I've finally got my fever to break - required a couple more tylenol and some ibuprophen. Had an ice pack on both wrists at pulse points, and on the back of my neck.
Its still elevated - but within a livable range. However, my problem now - I can't breath through my nose. Why does being ill have to be such an annoyance. *head desk*

When has the flu ever been fun. This one has the added effect of a paranoid news media.
Fluids, rest and something for the ache. Theraflu is somewhat comforting. I drank a lot of green tea and chicken broth - the warmth soothed my throat. After about a week, the flu should leave. Watch for any sign of a lung infection. You might find a free clinic in your area and try to get some antibiotics right away if that happens. Don't let it take hold.
