Ok, Lyrica not working and I am gaing weight. My rheumy is not listening to me and I'm fed up. I'm going back to my neuroscience doc. Does anybody else see a pain management doc. This doc gives me shots in the back. I'm in fibro fog and can't remember what the shots are called. I'm getting desperate and wondering if the pain in the center of my back is something else all together. Once you are crowned with Fibro then any and all other pains are thrown in the fibro box. I'm going crazy! Sherry

I am so sorry your having such a hard time right now. I know the frustration of med's not helping. I really feel for you.
I sure hope you can find some one that will listen, and do some thing that will help make things better for you. Sending you some caring thoughts. Gentle hugs to you, Sherrall

Hi Shrandy! I feel yr pain too. Lyrica didn't work for me either . It did begin causing weight gain & worse still, my hair began falling out. Thank goodness my Rheumy is a really supportive & helpful person (his wife is a nurse who also has FM.) Many of the meds prescribed to us fall flat in part because the condition is so ill understood that meds tend to target our highly variable symptoms but not the underlying condition. I truly hope yr neuro proves more helpful.

Thank you Sherrall and CielLuneE for your supportive words. I'm really hoping Dr. K listens and helps me. I'm getting ready to do more research on trigger point shots. Gentle Hugs back at ya!

Hi Sherry, I'm starting weekly Lidocaine shots to my sacroiliac and surrounded areas. It's allowing me to be able to walk without pain. I only wish I could have my whole body done! LOL I'm sorry your doc isn't listening to you. I hope your Neuro doc listens and gets you some treatment options.
My doc said there are more than 18 tender points, pointed to my arm and said "you have hundreds in your arm alone". We are working to get to the root of my back problem and your neuro should too. Treating the cause will go a long way in helping reduce the pain. Don't rule out a good bed, pillow, ortho cushion for your office chair, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, other possible illnesses and diseases such as arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis and even viruses.

Have had better luck with a neuro then "pain specialists" or rheumys...sometimes you gotta shop !! Sorry you are having such a hard time. Trust me we have all been there. It's hard when your pain and frustration levels are HIGH on the stress point. It's what makes us all feel crazy !!

Hi shrandy. On Monday I went to a pain management doctor for the first time. We had a long discussion, and for me, he said he would do exactly the same things I'm doing now. I take Lyrica and a Tramadol usually once a day, to get me through the work day. He also said that with my fibro, getting shots was not going to really help because it targets areas, AND it is only temporary pain relief. I have pain most everywhere.
Anyway, I know that a lot of people have had bad experiences with Lyrica. Mine so far is working out, but it was not easy. I have been taking it for 2 months and it is just recently that I have began to feel an overall reduction in my pain. Also, the side affects of nausea and dizzyness took awhile to get past too. But I was determined to give it a good try and not quit without a good try with it. As for weight gain, I have not really put on any weight. I hope you find something to help. By no means is Lyrica making me pain free, but I do believe it is helping me. Good luck!

I've given up on doctors for FM. I can't afford the ones who've actually done some research. The ones I see don't have time for anything but shinning their Porsche.
I use Boswellia for pain and I practice yoga. Right now, it's good enough. I have less pain than I've had in over a decade. Perhaps the anti-viral is working.

I had a good visit with my Neuro doc. He's the one that treated me after the car accident. He understands fibro and said it is a hard thing to treat with so much wide spread pain. We are going to address the mid-back first. I had trigger point shots today and if they work we will do radiofrequency next. We did this on my neck after the accident and if really helped. Next month we will re-do the radiofrequency procedure on my lower back to get relief in from the sciatic nerve pain. I'm weaning off the Lyrica because it has done nothing for the pain. He doesn't condone opiates for pain, but since they really help me and I don't abuse them I am back on vicodine. He watches me closely. I'm glad I decided to go back to Dr. K, he at least listens and really works with me. I'm still hoping to try aqua therapy next month. I have been able to sit at my desk today without excruciating pain! S
