Remembering all those that have gone before us and thanking the earth spirits for the good harvest! A time for storytelling and spirits!

" Blessed & Happy Samhan to you too!

I'll have to admit, I must either be naive or I must be a cave dweller....I've never heard of Samhan before. Now I must run out and find out what it is. I have a hunch....but it's fun to learn.

Basket, I also want to wish you a wonderful cruise to you and your hubby!

Hugs! "

" Samhain is the original version of the Hallowwen we all know here in the states/

It is pronounced 'sao win" and was a harvest festival as well as a remembering of the dead. Also with the end of harvest comes the winter and in those days, only the strong ones survived a winter so it was also a time for prayer for strentgth. And inclulded prayers for a good spring and an abundant harvest next year. It was thought that the spirits walked the earth that night so the tradition of setting out a basket of fruit and sweets by the door began to placate the spirits.

Once the church got involved, it changed to the Halloween that it is now. "
