Does anyone take Lamical for nerve pain?
I saw a neurologist last week for this horrid nerve pain that started in August. So far he has ordered an MRI and an EMG test. He did the pin test last week. That was a bit scary. On my feet and lower legs I felt a dull feeling instead of the sharp pokes. He also had me walk for a ways to see how my gait was...after that he ordered the MRI and the EMG. I know I have 3 bulged discs in my neck, but I've known that for 2 years now. If it were the discs wouldn't it have caused this nerve pain in my hands, wrists, arms, feet, ankles, lower legs to act up??? This nerve pain all started in August without any reason (as far as I know). Anyway, this doc gave me a trial packet of Lamictal for the pain. Do any of you take this, if so has it helped in any way? I can't comment on the Med it's not one I've tried. You might want to do a search on it to see what it says.
Try not to worry. It's good that your doctor is ordering these other test. Please let us know how things go. Sending Hugs and Prayers that you feel better soon.

hmmmm for nerve pain???? I take it for my bipolar and I cant say that it has helped one ounce with my fibro nerve pain.... maybe it is used for it for other types of nerve pain but in all honesty I havent had any theraputic results for pain. I was on it for well over a year and will be back on it soon. ALso I am suprised he gave a trial pack. Lamictal can cause serious rash problems if started or stopped to abrutly. Just curious what dose did they say to try?

Yes I have been on it for 6 years now for nerve pain (it also helps with my bi polar) and for me it is a God send). My nerve pain is not fibro related but is neuropathy of an unknown origin which they believe to be from past abuse.

My ex-Nazi neurologist tried to give that to me for epilepsy. (I went in for headaches.)
I didn't take it when I found out it had moderate to sever interactions with other meds I've been taking for blood pressure, low potassium and RLS. She said it should stabilize my mood - and I'm thinking, When did I ever tell her I was having any problems with my mood? I just have a really bad headache. She made so many wrong assumptions and it was affecting my health in a negative way. Check it against your other meds.
