Ok, went to the doc yesterday... having bad pain and side effects from lyrica(go figure) She talked me into trying savella.. So I took the first of the starter pack at 5pm... didn't fall asleep till 5am after 2 doses of melitonin, and being in horrible pain , every time I moved I would get muscle spasms, all over my back, the aching in my legs was horrific, almost went to the er, but didn't want to be labeled a drug seeker, My skin felt like It was crawling. never went into a deep sleep, and was wide awake ...am still in pain, she gave Lidoderm patches for my back They aren't working... Took my morning dose at 10 am ... I am really tired of this roller coaster and the pain!!! she won't prescribe me anything for temporary relief... I take tramodal, but it hasen't worked for 3 months now.
ARGH!!!! I am just so fed up!!!!

" I hope your not taking lyrica and savella at the same time. If you are on other meds I would check them for drug interactions. I plan to start savella in august. You do have to give it alittle time to work from what I've heard from others.

Hope you stick with it and get the results others are getting.

Sending Hugs and Prayers "

" I too started Savella yesterday...took 1st pill at 4 p.m. I didnt experience any nausea or any other side effects listed for Savella. I did notice around 7 p.m. to start to flare but know that its because i did too much the past two days. I too didn't get to sleep until at least 3 a.m. even with the help of Ambien. I use to take 2 Ambien a night just to sleep but trying to wean off that so down to one and taking one melatonin. Even though it was rough, I have the luxury (but hate it) of not working so I caught up on some sleep this morning. Still flaring and luckily my rheumy prescribes oxycodone for me for the pain. It takes the edge off the pain but still feel the exhaustion, tingling and burning and muscle spasms.

I know that in the wee small hours of the morning and you can't sleep its horrible. And of course at that time of the morning there's only the tv or the animals to keep you company. But I agree with Maryca, dont give up. Stay with me and we can help each other through the rough start of Savella and hopefully see daylight at the end of the tunnel.

And do check for drug interactions. The website is listed by other members and even check vitamins and supplements. We are our own best advocates with fibro.

Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon. Feel free to add me as friend and view my journal.

Take care, Mare "

" Yes, as I've said before - there are a lot of drug intereactions - like Lyrica and Cymbalta.

I wondered if you had read my response back to you when you said you were dead set against Savella. It sounded just like me :)

I'm glad you'll give it a try. Just remember if you are taking oterh meds- even if they don't severe interactions most things will make the side effects worse. The first 2 wks are the hardest from what I can tell and what others have been saying. So, my advice is to just stick with it and see how you are in a few weeks.

Send me a message if you need anything - I wish you the best of luck. "

" I just started Savella and have been very nauseated... hoping that like all other meds, as soon as my body gets used to the medication it will get over the sea sickness. I know of many people who have been labeled "drug seekers"... what a shame. As I am one who has needed the pain medications and could not get them because doctors are

so afraid of writing prescriptions now. Gotta love a pill head for helping us out there, huh??

I do now have a FANTASTIC doctor, I would not give up for all the money in the world... I was ready to just stop trying to live when I tripped upon him... "long story" but glad to have found him!!

It is all the druggies we have to thank for doctors to begin labeling people, but... look at it this way, although it does not make it better, they have to do it for a reason. To protect themselves. So many of these "drug" seekers overdose and die, then the families sue all the doctors the person had been shopping. So, they have to be very aware in todays society as sad as it is. "

" I am on a lot of meds for other issues so I cannot take some of these medications like lyrica. But I am doing ok as in, more better days then bad days. I am actually starting to feel like my life has some quality...evenn with the depression. Thats huge for me.

I wish you a ton of luck and angels wings to wrap around you when your aching. Dont know bout you but lol, when I really ache, I tend to lay with my hands up on my chest like in the dead person position. lol I have often thought I must look really bad lol. Part of it is when I hurt in my hands, the back of them..my gosh that is the worse. "

" That sounds like a terrible night! So sorry!
I do want to add that being on Lyrica and Savella at the same time is not a problem. I have done it for several months now...it did take some persistance to stick with the first few days - but - I do not know if there are other med interactions going on...or these all just affect us differently. For instance, it also gave me a good night's sleep - after the first few days. I take it at bedtime regularly now. What you are dealing with sounds awful - and it would help to have something to deal with the side effects! Hydrocodine has also helped me at those times. Wishing you better days ahead! "

" I just started Savella as well...And I am super nauseated. But I have been taking a half of phenergan (anti-nausea med) about 30 mins prior to taking the Savella and it brings the nausea down to bearable. It doesn't keep me up at night but I also take ambien. "
