...or whatever coordination that fibro has left you with??
I'm off balance, keep dropping and knocking over things. Spilling stuff all over the place. It only seems to happen every once in a while....thank goodness! It's very frustrating and makes me angry at myself for being such a klutz. Trying to get ready for the kids to come over and dropping things, bumping into things, spilling things, knocking things over, etc. Keeping my grabber/ / reacher handy so I don't have to bend over. Also using my walker today....I'm afraid of falling down. That its keeping me from brusing myself bumping into things. Doesn't mean I haven't rammed things with my walker or rolled over a few things. LOL Just curious if others have this same problem. ???? Posted on 07/04/09, 11:07 am |

I have trouble with coordination and balance as well, but I also have a neurovascular disorder that caused damage to my vestibular system. Tough to say what causes what...however, I will say that my rheumatologist said that balance problems "were not part of fibromyalgia". I am not going to argue this one way or the other, but I know several people have mentioned difficulty with balance and coordination and I'm on the floor at least 3 times per week.

I had no idea coordination had to do with Fibro... I just thought I was a supreme klutz. It's really embarrassing though. I'm a phlebotomist at a nearby hospital, and I go into a patient room, announce who I am and that I need to draw some blood (with a needle) and proceed to walk into everything. I'm surprised no one has asked me to leave and they want another person.
Also, as I walk down the hallway, I meander. Thank god I work at night and I'm usually the only one around...

Galiger, that would be something to see you coming to draw blood! I know it's not funny, but I had a picture in my mind and smiled! You must be good at your job or they wouldn't keep you around!

I can't have any glass around, cups, or breakable dishes, and if there's even one glass jar in the grocery bag, well, it doesn't make it into the garage. I had salsa and slivers all over the garage floor. What a job, keeping the dogs away so they wouldn't eat glass with the salsa . . . .
Constantly dropping everything including my cane. I'm afraid to use the motorized carts in Wal-Mart, where I shop for groceries because can't afford to eat otherwise, because I am convinced, the way they pack these tall displays, that I will wreck the store!

I've had the same problem for a while now, off balance, and bumping into things, my arms are black and blue from it. I see my rheumy this week, and I will discuss it with her, I also have back and hip problems, so it could be coming from that,or all three arrgh... I often think when I go down my front or backyard steps, that my neighbors must be thinking I've been drinking, and I dont indulge at all. It's strange that we are all experiencing the same symptoms, I'm curious to know how many of us also have back problems. I am on Lyrica, so that needs to be addressed with my rheumy also, whether that could be causing the off balance, incoordination. We have enough problems, without meds causing more. Gentle hugs to everyone
