Good Morning,

Happy 4th of July to all the Americans. So what is the 4th of July anyway.....

How many of you ever heard of Richard Henry Lee of Virginia.......I bet not a lot, could tell me anything about him........I bet that people could tell me about Jefferson...."he was the guy who wrote the Declaration of Independence and became a president.....senator.....um...had this cool house....yeah, I know that for sure.....oh yeah and he had a slave mistress and kids....um....hm....wait a minute I know more", is what some would say.
So who was this Richard Henry Lee of Virginia anyway......the people from his home town probably know all about him.....and his descendants......but do you.......

So, Jefferson is known as the author of the Declaration of Independence....da da daaaaaaaa BUT who helped him.....do you know there was a Committee of Five men with the job to write this document.....

Who was on that Committee of Five.......they were

Mr. John Adams, Mr. Benjamin Franklin, Mr. Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Robert R. Livingston, and Mr. Roger Sherman......you know team dynamics....the other 4 probably had a meeting, "Ooooo I have a date tonight....I hate working with him....do we have to....Let's get Tom to write it, he doesn't have any social life anyway....then I promise I will help edit it tomorrow.".....

So, Thomas Jefferson was tasked by the other four members of the committee to write the first draft............The document was ready for review on July 1st...they hmm'd and haw'd and debated...then decided that the document should not blast the British people or call for the abolition of slavery, so they wanted those paragraphs taken out....they were removed ....then off to the printer....talk talk.....and the document was not really signed until August 2,nd

Now you know.....

So, Is John Hancock only famous because he had really big writing.......what else did he ever do anyway.....

I will have to remember to sign my name big from now on.
