" Hi Smile, as a mom I feel your pain. As a FMS sufferer I feel your son's pain. They will be very similar at times and very different at others. You are a wonderful mom to be able to listen to your son and hear him, not just placate him.
I recommend a rheumatologist. I went to a pcp and he missed the RA and fibro for over 2 years. My rheumy is also more up to date on both and more open to new ideas.
Massage is a good thing and so is an electric blanket. On low wrap up in it like a mummy and you get all the pain at one time.Long warm baths or showers help too. I will leave all the meds to the docs and others.
Hang in there, make sure you take care of yourself too or you won't be any help to your son. So plan YOUR massage when you schedule his.
Glad to hear he did not have RA, but also hope they did not rule this out by lab work alone, again a rheumy may help.
Good luck and welcome to the group. "

" I am new to this board as well. People seem so nice to me already. I feel horrible that your son has this at such a young age. I have had it I'm sure since I was about 12 years old. It is such an awful thing to go through at any age, let alone as a young child. Please be patient with him. He is probably in a lot of pain. Bless his little heart. I hope the medication helps him. Please keep us all updated here. Take care. "

" We had a bad night last night, didnt get to sleep till 3 am even with the flexeril my baby was hurting so bad. I gave him some motrin but that didnt seem to help. His ears were red and burning and hot, similar to the way his hands were, does anyone get symptoms like that??? Some one told me this morning that fms is normally a secondary illness, is there anyone that just has the fms and not other disorders? I am worrying about the test results that he maybe has something else too. "

" Ok now i am seriously confused... i just spoke to the rheum. office, and i told the nurse it seems like he is getting worse, and she said that with fibromyalgia he shouldnt be getting worse. That seems contrary to what i have been reading about fibro, and that the symptoms move around and come and go. "

" Oh so young to have such a dreaded illness!! I am so sorry to hear about your son! It is so hard to live with fibro but to be so young and not understand what is going on with your body just isn't fair. I was to young even in my late teenage years. And I didn't know what was going on with me. My heart really goes out to your son. He is going to have to learn alot about fibro to understand it. And in terms that he will understand. My prayers go out to you and you son!!
HugsXXXXXXXX's pepsi "
