"A team of world-leading neuroscientists has developed a powerful technique that allows them to look deep inside a person's brain and read their intentions before they act."
Well drug abusers should be ready to get their world ROCKED upside down. We all know chronic pain is under treated and on top of that they make it almost impossible to afford decent care. I see this everyday I am crippled in pain but half of the college students run to E.R. say oh my leg hurts and get treatment. You have true medical problems they tell you to go take some Tylenol.
It all started out with a therapy appointment I had when I cried out. I asked her when the hell are they going to come out with something that can show that we aren't getting high off pain medications we are using them for chronic pain. Well I got a hopeful answer for once!
They have come out with a new type of MRI that can read the intentions people have. They are working on the ethical parts of it since it is basically brain tapping. BUT finally all we have to do is take a test and it show how much pain we are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to talk with the Chronic Pain Association for my state soon and I have been digging around for info about this new scan. Apparently they have made it where they can read memories as well. Here is some info about the new scan and a link with more as well.
Washington, Feb 19,2009 (ANI): Scientists can now easily tell whats going on in a persons mind, thanks to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) that can accurately reveal what people are thinking.
In a new study, led by neuroscientist Frank Tong of Vanderbilt University, volunteers were shown two different patterns and were then asked to picture one or the other.
Using fMRI brain scans, the researchers predicted with 80 percent accuracy which of the two patterns each person was actively holding in memory 11 seconds later.
fMRI images reveal which groups of neurons are active by measuring blood flow.
Tong explained that some of the visual cortexs neurons are associated more with vertical visual patterns, while others with horizontal or angled patterns.
The difference made the team to predict which pattern volunteers had in mind, even after the images were removed from the screen.
Here we find that the visual parts of the brain, those involved in seeing, are also involved in actively remembering something, National Geographic News quoted Tong as saying.
He added: Thats not been shown before. What might be happening is that youre maintaining a representation of what you just saw by very faint levels of activity in the visual cortex.
Henry Rusinek, a radiologist at New York University School of Medicine, said that the analysis of an area of the primary visual cortex called V1 suggested that the region performs complex functions, like focusing ones attention, independently of other brain regions.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
so whats this saying now {In simple terms a No Mind can understand}...they are gonna run scans on ur brain, peer into your thoughts if they THINK you are a Seeker ??
no way would I allow a MRI done for that purpose...these are Dangerous tests actually...and spendy...who is gonna foot the bill ?? I can promise that insurance companies will not IF they think the test is being done to Peer into ones thoughts...
"Are you Really In Pain ?? or are ya just lookin for some drugs ?? I have a very Long History of Refusing Drugs of any kind...
and to dispose of drugs...just crush them and add em to something nasty in the trash...Kitty litter works for me...but what a waste huh ?? when ya got people who need them, and cannot get them...I had 6 SEALED containers of Cymbalta...nope...they would not take them back, or offer them to someone who could NOT Afford them...when Dean came home after his Neck surgery...he did not need even One Pain pill...yet they sent him home with 2 bottles of STRONG Stuff, and refills for 2 months on each...
Nope...they need to do something...they need to find a way to figure it out, that is the least Invasive...
I am just excited to see a test that can prove somethings. This is about overall treatment for people in chronic pain. Don't forget this is the SAME test that shows more activity with people who are in chronic pain. This is the MRI that shows proof that people really are in chronic pain and it just isn't in their head.
NYDeb-That's a good idea. When I go see this new spine specialist and pain management doctor, I am going to ask them to have me sit there for the first dose. lol It really isn't about just pain medication anymore it is a fight for fair treatment.
