Has anyone had a bad experience with Lipitor or other Statin drugs? I know it supresses the body's production of CoQ10, which muscles NEED (even the heart, which it is supposed to be helping) so I wonder if Lipitor and FMS just don't go well together. My body went haywire, for sure, while on Lipitor.

" Yes! My rheumotologist asked my internist to switch me from Lipitor to another statin because one of the Lipitor side effects is achiness and muscle pain. I did feel better after a few weeks. I am on Gemfibrozil now and also take some Magnesium each day to help with the muscle aches. Hope this helps. "

" I am very curious about the Cholesterol/FMS connection, if there is one. I also don't think I needed any meds as my ratios were very good, even though the over all number was high. Curiously, my Cholesterol was highest when I was exercising almost daily... which makes me think somehow my body was responding to the exercise... I was injuring myself by too much, too strenuous exercise. So, the Statin knocked down the cholesterol numbers, but I think too much. Then my body went haywire. Anyway, I am now just below "high" overall number, but still a good ratio. No Statins, but serious vitamin and diet changes. Fingers crossed. I think that drug companies have a hold of us, and sometimes, out of the fear that they generate, we don't see the forest for the trees until the wildfires start. "

" I have taken Lipitor for 2 yrs now BUT only need to take 10mgs every other night since I switched my diet/exercise and lost weight-no problems but I have read where lots of people have adverse effects as you are describing. "
