has anyone heard that fibro is a result of inadequate levels of cortisol? i was in a health food store about 6 or 7 months ago; a woman overheard me talking with a salesperson. she asked me if i had fms and i told her yes. she said i needed to work on my cortisol levels. at that time, i didn't even know what cortisol was.

i did some research and began taking vitamin/mineral/herbal supplements that are supposed to help balance cortisol (among other hormones). at one time, i was feeling better than i had in many years. this lasted about 7-8 weeks. however, i began to fear taking herbal supplements long-term without doctor supervision, so i cut back. within two weeks, i felt terrible.

about two weeks ago i started back on the vitamins/herbal supplements and i'm not getting the relief that i had before. i almost thought i might have found my "miracle cure". i'm still taking supplements, in hope that it's just requiring more time for my body to respond. but, i wondered, has anyone heard/tried this approach and if so, what was your experience like? i keep hearing that there's no cure for this, but i want so badly for this to work. i am so frustrated with having this stupid illness that hardly anyone understand nor wants to treat.

" oh, i should add that the woman i spoke to referred to cortisol imbalance as "adrenal fatigue", which she said can cause fms and many other syndromes and diseases. "

" According to the latest theory on the cause of Fibro, adrenal fatigue is PART of the answer.
The problem supposedly stems from a chemical imbalance in the HPA Axis. (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis Disfunction)
I am in the process of researching which supplements should help in correcting the imbalance...
I know there are several of us here that do a lot of research, if anyone is closer to the answers please let me know.
In the meantime I will try to do a post in the next few days with what I find, both the theory and what supplements might help just in case someone else wants to try it too. "

" i think it's multiple factors. not just cortisol, or the imbalance in the HPA Axis. it's like a puzzle if you ask me, we just gotta find all the pieces to get the whole answer. if you now what i mean.

but when i did spinal cortisol injections, i gained 30 lbs in 8 months! not sure if i wanna go down that rt again, and worst of all, my fm was REALLY bad back then!

i wish we / scientists knew the whole picture of what's goin on here. "
