I don't like Lyrica b/c of weight gain but I take he sister hood of Neurontrin. I haven't gained any weigth from that. Its the same thing as Lyrica without the weight gain.

Neurontin made me gain weight. I stopped Lyrica b/c it didn't help the pain AT ALL. I feel like the side effects of Neurontin are pretty bad, but it's worth it to lessen the pain.

I was rejected for Lyrica. In the meantime they are starting me on Neurontin. Should ge starting it tomorrow. I was scared of the weight gain prospect with the Lyrica. As far as base of the neck pain, I get that allll the time. In fact I have it pretty bad right now. For me, my spine is crooked. Which adds to the Fibro if it isnt the cause of it. You might want to try Tiger balm for pain, also STOPAIN spray and heating pads. Thats what I do, its only temporary but somewhat helps... :)

I just stopped taking Lyrica too, because of the weight gain and the expense. It wasn't making enough of a difference, pain wise, to be worth the gain and the money.

I've had pretty bad pain in the morning since I stopped taking it, but last night, I went back to my 800mg Motrin/two tylenol arthritis combo right before bed and I felt a noticeable difference.

This "combo" is both inexpensive and doesn't cause weight gain, plus, it works like a charm for me.

Ive been on neurontin for several months now. I have actually lost weight. I have been in what seems to be a flare for several months and just dont eat bcause im not hungry due to pain. I am on lyrica but cant take the dose im supposed to bcause taking 2 lyrica, 50 mg, morning and night gives me a migraine.
I have not had any side affects from the neurontin other than at first i was a little more tired in the morning.

My Rhuemy gave me two weeks of samples of lyrica, and I could tell a huge difference. BUT, my insurance will not cover it at the standard copay. I can't afford it, so I had to leave it behind.

I had to stop the Lyrica becase it didn't help with the pain, and it made my depression much worse. It caused my med for depression, to stop working. I ended up on 3 diff meds trying to get the depression under control (Cymbalta, wellbutrin and prozac), all at the same time. I finally cracked, and attempted suicide. Now I am on Paxil, and the depression is under control, but I went through alot just because of one bad drug.

Lyrica did not help my pain, and since I was nearly put into the hospital thanks to the dizziness, I am no longer taking this medication.

I initially got put onto Lyrica for my RLS - which it DID help - but the vertigo and nausea was so horrible it needed to be changed.

I only take the lyric when I have to, that's when I am having a lot of muscle pain on my right side and tingling and numbing. Because I go on and off the lyric it helps keep my weight down. But it's been the only thing that halfway helps with the right side pain.

And yes the neck pain at the base of your neck, mine hurts there a lot also. I have no suggestions for it. I do take zanaflex and it helps the muscle pain some. I have to take so much it will knock me out but if I do that for the night or day or two I will feel better.

Oh yea, 8pds in one week, I told the Dr the only thing good about it was that with my skin so swollen, my skin didn't sag so much anymore. I'm on my 3rd day coming off and I feel a big difference. But I heard the good and the bad, so it must work fo some and not for others. I'm an other. I only felt worse, no help with the pain.... Blessings Helen
