I haven't been on here long but I have seen where a few of us have made remarks about wanting a friend to do things with or to have someone to talk to about our illness that was in our areas.
I am sure someone has done this before but some of us are new, so I am doing a greeting introduction here.
Feel free to add what you want and maybe don't want.
Let's just have fun with it.
Tell all your friends and let's all get to know each other!

Hi, I'm Lisa. I live in Cincinnati Ohio
I think I have had fibromyalgia forever but was diagnosed in 2002 after I got mono while working in a nursing home.
My meds. at the time being is cymbalta, synthroid, and an occasional vicodin.

So now it is your all turn !!

" Courtney from Alaska

Currently trying to deal with my fibro with OTC's, meditation and exercise. I also see a chiro and a massage therapist once a week. Married, no kids. Work full-time, 9 months a year. Have very little social life during those nine months! I try very hard to stay positive - the alternative just blows. "

" Suzanne from Louisiana... Geaux Tigers!

I'm 46, been ill with fibro for 19 years, but only diagnosed last year. It started after a bad bout of the flu. I'm married with two grown daughters.

I take muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, and anti-depressants for my fibro. Also try to swim, walk, and do light very light weights. "

" Basket from So CA. I have multiple birth defects but was diagnosed with FMS about 3 yrs ago. Although I believe I've had it more like 15+ yrs. I have opted for natural altenatives....acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractics and Chinese herbs (one doc does it all) along with an occasional Norco for pain and 5mg Valium at bedtime for a muscle relaxer.
Married to my HS sweetheart....almost 40 yrs now. Kids all rasied....no grandkids yet.
I am an artisan making baskets and I do living history at different events. Thank goodness I work on my own time and schedule. And there are times when Bear just has to go without me.
I have 4 dogs and 8 cats....all working animals for the 40 acres we live on....guard and mousers. "

" HI

Blue from Hawaii here!! I was dx w fibro Dec of 05. but i think i started feeling it about 1 n 1/2 years before that. At the time i was active duty in the USMC but they didn't get the dx right till after my discharge. Anyways, on top of the fms i got a back injury, DDD in my L and C spine, asthma, chronic migraines, tmj, arthritis of the spine, ringing in both ears, IBS, chronic kidney infections, and the list goes on!!

For treatments i have had:
7 spinal injections, chiropractic, physical therapy, swimming (works best), biofeedback, anger management, massage therapy, vit B12 sups, magnesium, valerian root for sleep, neurontin, effexor, mobic, Tylenol no 3, Oxycodone, etc.

I like swimming in the ocean on my time off, nothing heals better than that. I like to read the Bible with my man and my mom. Like watchin movies at home, and grillin. I can cook almost anything i want (don't mean to brag but i enjoy cookin).

I am the type of person that puts everyone else before me, which can be good but can be bad, too. I like seeing people i care about happy and i tend to go the extra mile for them. I can be nice but i do have a short temper and when people get on my bad side... well.. things get ugly! You can ask some of the guys that were in my platoon! lol!

anyway, no kids, no job, don't care to ever have kids. maybe i'll adopt some day. not sure. eventually i'll go back to college one day and then own my own business. "

" You can just call me "Mema" and I am from the south. Lived in a lot of other places, as my Dad was military. Since I was born here, and have lived here for the past 23 years, I guess this is home. I will be 56 soon.

Have just gone back to work part-time, preparing little ones for kindergarten. My work day is only supposed to be 5.5 hours long, three days a week, but lately it's been a lot more. Tomorrow I have to work 11 hours straight, ugh.

Trying the more natural methods to keep the fibro in check. Have already tried every other kind of pain pill there was, as none of them seemed to make that much difference. So, I detoxed and went to more natural healing methods. Still get tired easily and have days where I don't feel up to doing much of anything, but a lot better than being a recluse for two years.

Enjoy playing with grandson, reading and animals. Work at a museum where the animals are enclosed in areas much like their original habitat. Not always easy to see them that way, but much better for them.

Nice to meet all of you:) "

" Hi, I'm Bobbi from Indianapolis, Indiana.

I was just diagnosed 7/15/08, but I believe I have been dealing with this condition most of my life. I have alot of the other conditions that seem to follow along with fibro.....ibs, tmj, ddd, osteoarthritis, just to name a few. The pain of fibro is bad enough but even worse for me was the fatigue. I have been treated for numerous things over the years but now I am only on Xyrem through a medical study in my area. It was scary at first, but it has turned out to be the best thing to have happened for/to me. The medical study paid for a sleep study to be done and it was found that I never went beyond stage 2 of sleep, even with all my medications which all had a sleep aid/effect to them. So I do feel much better. Not perfect, but much better.

I have been married for 18 years to my HS sweetheart. We have 3 kids. Our oldest will be going to college next year.....so happy for him, but very depressing as a mom :(

I work full-time, although not much longer for that. I am a criminal intelligence analyst for our local police department. This decision to leave the dept. has caused me alot of stress over the past month and I fear I am entering a flare because of it and in spite of the Xyrem.

It's very nice meeting you and I am very glad your here :)

Hugs,

Bobbi "
