My doctor gave me some lidoderm patches samples.. Also she helped me sign up for free patches. They are put on your painful spots, and do really do help. It has lidocaine %5, that kinda numbs the area. They have helped me when I was at my wits end. patches all over..lol..only have 3 patches at a time, but you cut cut them into 2,3,4 or however small you need. Thought I would pass this on to my friends and family here at DS.

Kevin, that's awesome. I have heard people talk about them but I've never seen them. I think I'm going to talk to my doctor next time I go and ask if he will prescribe them.
So much of my breakthrough pain is "local" - confined to certain areas. If I had something to take care of that pain I'd probably not need Vicodin as much.

I have a burning between my shoulder blades while I work and I use them there all day and they help greatly. They take most the burning away. I used to use tons of benGay but my co-workers were unhappy with that so I tried these. Problem- Bengay $4.00 Lidoderm patch $40.00 copay

I was thinking about asking my Dr. for a prescription. Is it through your PCP? I was wondering if it might help with foot pain.

Hi Kevin hun......I'm so happy to hear that you have found something to help a little more.
My doc had talked to me about the "oral" version of this stuff. Hmm...numb tummy is what I thought at the time.......but I've heard of these patches since. Thanks for sharing, I'll bring this up again!..... One quick question....are the patches really sticky? I tend to break out in a rash even from a band aid these days. Thanks hun!

wait---lidocaine, isn't that what's in sunburn sprays? If so, why can't I just go buy some sunburn spray for $8 a can and use that? Asking a serious question, I want to know.
