What kind of Beds?
Watch this

I wake up with my shoulders hurting all the time. Sometimes I can't move in the morning because of this. I was wondering if people ever bought one of those so called special pedicatric beds and sleep number beds and if it was worth the money. I am always interested in those kind of beds but they are sooo expensive. I wish the insurance would cover some if it due to pain. Wouldn't it be nice? so if you got one, is it worth it? I am just so sore getting up in the mornings, even with my muscle relaxor - i am only taken them at n ight, but I am almost ready to ask him to take it during the day because it is helping so much better... I am taken less percocet because of it! None at night right now! much better progress!

" to be honest, morning stiffness is such a core symptom of fibro, i dont think any of us can make it go away completely. at least it only lasts a short time. i just take things quietly for the first hour or so. i don't think spending money on a new bed is gonna help much, sorry. overall if i were you i'd wait a couple of weeks before making any more changes to treatment - the meds need time to settle down. cheers, M "

" I use a magnetic mattress pad and it seems to calm some of the stiffness down. "

" I use a sleep number bed and I strongly, strongly recommend the investment, but that alone does not help. I have one of those pillows that is all foam, and on top of it, I have another foam pillow. The first one is flat, to raise the top pillow so that the top of it will be at the base of my head. The top pillow is one of those which is curved, you know where it is raised at the edges, and a depression in the middle.
This combination works great for me. I would suggest trying this combination but otherwise, find a pillow that will support your neck is a great idea to reduce it.
Unfortunately, the others are right and not all of the stiffness will be relieved. The right bed and pillows however are well worth the investment. "

" We have a sleep number bed and it has been the best investment of our marrige. We bought it over 7 years ago and have not had 1 problem. We just added the best thing.... I bought a 4 or 5 inch featherbed from QVC and WOW what a great bed. My husband had Spinal Fusion (which is why we bought the bed in the 1st place) and he still gets the benefit of the adjustability of the bed. It is like sleeping on a cloud. "

" Unfortunately, having morning stiffness, aches, and pains is another part of Fibro.Sometimes it will last nearly an hour.
We couldn't afford one of those beds, they sound wonderful.Instead, I purchased one of the memory foam mattress pads. It cost $99 for our king size mattress.A lot of money, but not as much as the whole bed costs. And it seemed to help for a while.
Then I purchased a non-allerginic version of a down mattress cover, and put it on top of the memory foam.It was on sale of $49.Oh! Wow! Now the mattress sort of "cuddles" you when you lie down.
Add some high-count sheets, a very light- weight down-alternative blanket,a pillow under the head, a small pillow under the elbow, or behind the back....and ummmmmmm it is good sleeping. In the colder weather, some flannel sheets feel cozy.
It didn't cost as much as the memory foam bed. But, it does feel good.
This doesn't mean that I no longer have aches and pains that keep me awake...those nights still rear their ugly heads. But not as often.
Hugs....kudzu "

" I purchased a Tempur Pedic Mattress 3 years ago and it IS THE BEST money I've ever spent!!! I LOVE IT! I paid $3000 for mine, but got a 0% interest rate for 12 months to help pay for it.

I had finally broke down to buy one.. I know its expensive, especially if money is tight, trust I know. I had had enough of not sleeping well due to my spring mattress killing me with pain... I'd cry and cry all the time b/c I wished I had had a better more comfortable mattress.. One day, while driving to the furniture store crying the whole way there... I called my husband, and said, baby, this is the day, I'm on my way to the furniture to buy a Tempur Pedic Mattress!! He said, you do that baby! I was like thank you! He had known all I had been going through and I was at my witts end with this not sleeping due to the pain in my bed.. I had a queen size and I was going to get a king size bed this go round!! I don't like to be touched during my sleeping.. I hurt to bad, not to mention it disturbs me and then I can't fall back to sleep.. ughh..

So, getting back to your question... It took my body about 2 weeks to adjust to it, which was hard to imagaine that beings its so heavenly.. but all new beds take some adjusting.. I did purchase the contour pillow with it and I LOVE it also!! I sleep much better with it too.

I notice a lot less pain during the course of the night due to my Tempur Pedic Mattress.. For years I used the Tempur Pedic Mattress topper, it helped for about 2 years time.. then it just wasn't enough!! I needed the whole bed.. argg. But I would spend that $3000 all over again!! I'd pay $8000 for it that's how much I love it!! It's worth every red cent!

All the tender spots are a lot less painful or none.. You do have the options of a softer or firmer mattress support with them, as well.. There are many different price ranges too..

I hope you can find you one or something that works for you. We spend most of our lives in bed, so its important to have a good quality bed to rest our painful bodies in!! Your body will thank you! :)

Happy Sleeping!

" I paid $1000.00 7 years ago I think they are approx. $1300.00 for a queen now. I know QVC sells them. Select Comfort is their real name. "

" I've had a Sleep Number bed for a few years now. I don't think it helps with my morning stiffness, but I think it helps some with my sleep.

The best part of my bed is that I can have my side set to very soft, and my husband has his side set much firmer. So I don't have to sleep in a firmer bed. "
