I am sitting here so upset, thank God for Effexor or I would be crying my eyes out. I have a few questions. I got my epidural yesterday and that was a JOKE. I was told it would be under sedation...HAHA and F'ing HA!! I don't think anyone can sedate me. It didn't help one bit and I even told them it didn't work and I need more because I could feel everything the doctor was doing.
I was told to be quite and not to talk. It was ok for them to talk it up but not me. WTH then they told me to just put myself in a good place but not to speak at all. So I shut up!! I am in tremendous pain and my left leg feels lifeless. Am I suppose to lay in this bed for 3 days, won't happen I can't do it my legs start feeling like elephant legs and I can't move them. I guess I am just so sick of my life, I WANT TO HAVE ONE!!! my questions are: 1) I live in CA, I have not worked in over 10 years but I need to bring some money in so what kind of disability should I try to collect? The first time I tried I was told I didn't have enough work credits so now I don't know what to try and get. 2) Can I try to get a job? The job market sucks but if this epidural works and I feel better I may be able to do something. What if I try and only make it 2 weeks will that mess up collecting from the gorvenment? 3) why is it people like us (and I have seen a lot of you with this same problem) can't get what is due us? I worked from the time I was 14 until about 35. But since they only go back 10 years I am SOL. The Government owes us, just because were house wifes or haven't been able to work and tried to make it on our own but now realize it won't happen they pentalize us...is this fair because I really don't think it is!!! 4) I want my life back. I feel like I have been out of the loop so long I don't know how to get back in if I do start to feel better. So how would you start?? I NEED TO START GETTING OUT OF THIS HOUSE AND DOING SOMETHING FOR ME!! My husband is great but I see him look at me like I know your not that bad today. Maybe I am feeling a bit sorry for myself but it's a funk I can't seem to get out of. I want to laugh again. People use to tell me I had the best laugh and I feel like I haven't heard it for so long. Aww Honey I am so sorry. That was horrible treatment you had. I don't like Drs anyway, but they should have made sure you were comfortable with the procedure.
Now about the other issues. I don't think you can draw disability which in my opion sucks, but that's the way it is everywhere. They only go back 10 years. Can you get a job? Well do you feel you can work If in doubt, don't try as you may do more harm than good. Next question..answer..Yes our goverment sucks! I want my life back to sweetie but I don't see it happening now. I sorry your husband is not very understanding right now and I know it's hard on you but try and findsomething that will bring bak your famous laugh again. Sorry I wasn't any help but here's a hug for you in hopes you find the answers you need.

I wish I could give you some advice, but I don't know what to say.
Are your legs suppose to feel like that. Maybe you should check with the doctor. Maybe your having a reation to what ever meds they used. Sending Hugs and Prayers Hope you feel better soon.

First, the government doesn't owe you anything. That's a common mindset but please remember that the only money they have to do anything with is OURS. Remember also that a government powerful enough to give you everything is also powerful enough to take it away.
Now to the rest - I don't know about CA but under most circumstances there is nothing that you are entitled to unless you file immediately when you become unable to work. That applies to disability, unemployment, pretty much any of the government benefits. There have to be rules, otherwise, everyone with a hangnail would apply sooner or later. The only other thing available to most people is short- or long-term disability, either privately insured or offered through an employer. Since you've been out of work for so long that obviously doesn't apply. You SHOULD be eligible for some sort of social services payments though - food stamps or other forms of assistance. I would check with whatever agency handles welfare and other social services programs - there has to be something.

You can get information on SSD and SSI at www.ssa.gov. My husband was told he didn't have enough work credits either but turns out he got benefits anyway. Even if you don't qualify for SSD you can get SSI even if you've never worked. But there is a limit to how much other income you can have.
What would I do? I'm afraid that would only cause you more trouble.

PeaceN2you You have no idea what I have DONE as an American and I DO deserve the money I gave to the government for many years. I need that money NOW and because my husband can no longer keep us going on his income I MUST do something.
I put money into it for a long time so now that I need it I want it. We didn't ask this stupid government for one damn dime for over 10 years because we could afford to live by the skin of our teeth and I didn't want to take money that I didn't need at the time. So excuse me but your WRONG!! Like the old saying goes...if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it!!! thanks for the shoulder

It's not about you - it's about the government not having any money except what they take from us. We're all in debt up to our eyeballs thanks to "entitlements" and we just got dinged for another $70 billion, just for starters - by the time it's over it will be much more than that.
Our children are in hock to the government - probably our grandchildren - and people are still saying that the government "owes" them something. The government is beyond bankrupt and we are no longer in a position to look to them for assistance. Politicians talk about reducing the "deficit" - people mistake that for the debt. Asking the government for help makes about as much sense as asking your neighbor whose house was just foreclosed on to pay your mortgage. It's not about you - don't take it personally - it's about how this has to stop before China and all the others countries we owe money to call our loans.
