Massive flare-up helped by Carisoprodol

I had spasms waking me up every 2 hours nightly until the dr gave me the muscle relaxant Carisoprodol 350mg 2 x daily. My fibro-flare up was the worst ever probably a 15 pain wise and could not bear another day. The first night I took this I slept through the night and woke up nearly pain free. Since I started taking it I am so much more flexible. It has only been 2 weeks so can not say anything about the long term effects. Has anyone else tried this?

" The trade name for this drug is Soma, and it is wonderful for both muscle spasm and sleep. But be very careful - this drug is highly addictive. I have detoxed more than a few fibro patients off it. "

" I was on Soma for over 2 years. It did work really well the first year, year and a half. It no longer works. I build up a tolerance for most meds. I stopped taking the soma cold turkey and never had a problem, i did not become addicted to them and the best part was i had no side affects.
I hope it continues to work for you. I have never heard of carisoprodol, but if i read the above post right, they are similar. "

" I use that on a regular basis. It is the only muscle relaxant that works for me. Glad it helps you also. It does cause drowsiness but not all the time for me. I have been using it for 15 plus years. "
