What does everyone know about Magnesium? If so what do you think it is suppose to do and how much should i be taking daily?
It was suggested to me by a nutritionist, so i don't know. I looked on a website and it says it deals with surprisingly a lot...so i am hoping some of you have been on it for a while. I just started saturday and am only taking a low dose. Thanks a bunch! Posted on 04/14/08, 10:04 pm |

Hi there,
I take Magnesium Malate for about 6 months. It was suggested to me and I decided to give it a try. I'm not sure if it helps..but I don't want to stop taking it to find out. LOL I also started taking Super B Complex and Mangosteen juice. ((gentle hugs))

Magnesium is a mineral that is essential to many biological processes that occur in the body. Magnesium aids in the body’s absorption of calcium and also plays a key role in the strength and formation of bones and teeth. This means that those at risk for osteoporosis can benefit from taking magnesium.
Magnesium also is vital for maintaining a healthy heart. Magnesium helps stabilize the rhythm of the heart and helps prevent abnormal blood clotting in the heart. Magnesium also aids in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. The mineral magnesium can significantly lower the chance of heart attacks and strokes, and can even aid in the recovery from a heart attack or stroke. ********* Magnesium also helps maintain proper muscle function. It works to keep muscles properly relaxed. Because of its benefits in relieving stiff muscles, magnesium can be especially beneficial to fibromyalgia patients.*******

I get chronic Migraines/headaches along with Fibro. My new doc, who is a neurologist recommended I take at least 400mg a day, I am currently taking 900mg during the day. I have had a lot less problems with headaches lately, and it has been awhile since I went into a flare, although that streak seems to be ending tonight, LOL. It was also recommended that I take Fever-few along with this. I also on my own take D-Ribose, Creatine, and A L-Carentine in a mixture together three times a day. Plus I have a super multi-vitamin with all kinds of the other good stuff in it. I have had I feel normal days which hasn't happened in at least 2 years. It is always worth it to experiment with these over the counter remedies because you don't have to suffer the dangerous side effects. Just make sure to study up, and also make sure that nothing will interact with your current medications. Hope this helps :).

I'm looking in From Fatigued to Fantastic: 200 miligrams/day. It is critical for muscle energy. Low mg. causes muscles to spasm and shorten and this will cause pain. Blood tests for mg. are unreliable because the levels in the blood do not reflect how much is getting into the muscle. You should not take mg. if in kidney failure. Take 200-450 mg. mag. glycinate with 1800 mg. malic acid. for 8 months then cut back to 200 mg. day. If you get diarrhea, cut dose and then increase slowly. Mg. deficiency contributes to fog, helps build bones, regulate body temp. release energy into muscles.
