I'm getting fitted for a back brace next week. It has a hot/cold pack inside it so I am happy about that. Other than that it feels like I'm getting old before my time. Does anyone else have one? Please tell me if you like them or not! Thanks!

I had to wear one twice! These are horrible things and I hated mine. Although it sounds like yours is going to be a lot more comfortable. I hope this isn't asking too much... Why do you have to get one? I hope you are alright I have been down that road and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. You just take care, OK.

I have worn them as well. However, my chiro advised me against wearing one all the time which I dont.
He stated that the muscles tend to get lazy which of course in medical terms means they begin to atrophy from lack of use. I dont think using it short term when you absolutely need to will hurt anything, just not indefinitely and long term

I think neice is right on the not wearing it all the time. When my child injured his back and wore a brace the doctor told him the same thing. I wish they made a contraption for the shoulders and neck that you could just slip on like a shirt that offered cold and hot options. I think I will put that on my wish list, maybe santa will bring.

I wore a plastic, custom fitted one for six months after I had spinal reconstructive surgery on L4 & L5. I quickly learned to wear a "wife beater" undershirt to keep the inner foam lining from sticking to my body.
For the first several months, I was faithful about wearing it then tapered off to when I felt I really needed it. I didn't want my muscles to atrophy and I didn't want to be encased in it for life. I still have two and I will wear the lace up, cotton one when I absolutely have to.

I also literally have a brace for just about every part of my body, no joke.
I only use them when absolutely necessary, to give my body extra support when needed.

I have to tell yall this funny lol. I broke my ribs nov of 06. I wore a rib belt to help support that area. Which of course is a living nightmare bec nine times out of ten they are not for women who have AHEMS sticking out in the front of their bodies....LOL!
I did manage to find one that was for women to allow for the uh, girls to not be restrained lol Well anyway, it was painful as it kind of pinched on the sides. So I improvised and took a pair of socks, and stuck one on each side when I put it on for cushion LOL! The ribs were broken on the upper middle back area. Hey a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do LOL!
