Ive been suffering for IBS for years and its playing up now. Im bloated, have nausea and if i try and touch my tummy anywhere under my bellybutton down, its very tender. Have been constipated, but even after managing to go, i still feel like i need to go again. So, from today im stopping: Chocolate ( Major loss!) wine and coffee. Im going to try and drink more water and eat a bio yogurt once a day. Does anyone else have ant advice on this please? Thanks xx

" Candlegirl,
Are you running a fever? You may want to get your appendix checked, if you still have it. My son started having those same symptoms, especailly the tenderness under the belly button, and had to have his appendix removed. It was very infected and ready to rupture when they did surgery. I don't mean to scare you, but appendix are a real possibilty! "

" Yes, Cheerios. Yes, you read correctly. My doctor recommended that I eat Cheerios 2 times a day for 1 week. It flushed out my system and I was IBS pain-free for a long time. As soon as I feel the symptoms starting again, I go on the Cheerios again and I have not had that major, bloating, soreness, etc. since.

Plus little caffeine and little chocolate and no alcohol. "

" I kicked out all the items you mentioned, but it didn't make much difference. I eat bran flakes followed by some applesauce(no added sugar). That usually does it! I've never had tenderness of the lower abdomen like that, so definitely check yourself for a fever!! "

" I find any fast food sets me off....as long as I stay away from that I usually do OK.

Like the others suggested I eat high fiber...I love the high fiber Emglish Muffins...8 grams I think they are. I have one every morning. I drink lots of water and tons of decaf mint flavored green tea. It is good hot or iced. For iced I sometimes use 1/2 and 1/2 (regular decaf tea bags and the decaf mint green tea bags) "

" I had tons of IBS symptoms with the bloating and whatnot and it turns out I'm allergic to processed foods, dairy products, gluten, corn and a whole host of other things. I never would have imagined it but so long as I avoid those things, I don't bloat up like a beached whale.

Food allergies/sensitivies are extremely common with fibro due to an inbalance in the neurotransmitters in our brains. "

" Also stay away from popcorn. While it doesnt directly affect IBS it can bring about an attack of Divorticulites(bad misspell) and even tho you may not be dxd for it it does tend to go hand in hand with IBS "
