would it help if I eat less? give me some pointers in how not to gain weight

Fraidanem, There is a good chance you won't gain weight, since you don't have a weight problem...just keep a good eye on the scale, it can creep up on ya.

not only have i gained and keep gaining from this med. i also sweat ALOT.i stopped takin it as of yesterday and will be getting on something else..

Yep, me too. I knew it was gonna be bad when I read the info sheet & it said a common side effect was craving sweets! I'm what my hubby calls a "snacky" person anyways, I almost always have a snack at night while watching tv & such. The last 2 yrs have been the worst for me weight wise, and I know most of it is from my surgery & all my meds. I do crave sweets from the elavil, and if I had stronger will power, maybe I'd gain less. So far though, I'm still up. I think someone said they were only on 10 mg of it? Is it different for amitryptaline compared to elavil? I'm on 125 mg; I take FIVE 25 mg pills a night!

Thanks tippy22. If everyone says they've gained weight on it, I prob. will too. I'm scared of that

i've had elavil for fibromyalgia 2 months & have gained about 15 # eating the same, maybe that's it because i was beginning to wonder what was going on, bloating & puffy all over.
