How many of you have successfully applied for SSDI/SSI? Were you approved the first time? How long did it take?

Even though Social Security is a Federal program SSD/SSDI is state based. So each state is different as far as how fast they act on the cases. I applied myself in June 2012 but I have a attorney on standby, so if I am denied I will let them know and they are ready to take my case. They do call me and see if I have heard anything and she was telling me about it being state based about 2 weeks ago. I am in North Carolina, is there anyone else from NC that has been approved. Any suggestions.
Thanks, Sandra
