Pain like mine?

When I walk or try to do too much I get a bad aching feeling in a certain area (usually my butt or hips but in random places like my neck and arms too). Its like I am walking and it starts aching (almost feels like a pulled muscle, but its not actually pulled) and the more I walk the more intenese the pain :( When I sit down and rest the pain gets better. Anyone else get aches like this with activity?!! I know I have asked similar questions but wanted to explain my kind of pain more....I am hoping someone else has experienced this!

" I sometimes have muscle spasms in my hips and glutes when I walk. My massage therapist says I need to strengthen the muscles because I've been out of shape for so long.

I've been going to the gym and working on weight bearing exercises for my legs and butt and I'm not having the spasms as often, and they don't seem as strong, so maybe it's working! "

" Thank you Sandy! I just worry I dont have fibro because people talk aobut it hurting to get hugged or get blood pressure taken and those dont hurt me :/ However, this pain I described about it ruins my life :( Everytime I get the pain starting my anxiety spikes me into thinking what if I am dying of some rare muscle disease :( I hate this pain and I hate my anxiety :( It gives me comfort knowing I am not alone :) I too cant do nearly as much as I used to before the pain kicks in. A few years ago I would only get the pain on occasions like when we would walk long distances or periods....like going to the zoo. Now I get it if I do anything :/ Pisses me off. I did stretch for 20 minutes today and noticed it was maybe a little better! Hoping stretching a lot will help me get a little better! "

" I actually find when I walk, my arms tend to hurt more than my legs which is a bit weird! Legs do hurt too though, and a lot of strain on the back (and the bum!) I usually don't get hurt when I get hugged, however there are certain people that can really cripple me with a bear hug. To be honest, getting my blood pressure taken just freaks me out, I don't even pay attention to any pain - I used to have, I don't really know what it was, but I couldn't wear sleeves unless they were really baggy or I'd freak out. So blood pressure, yick.

Back to your question, I get exactly the same type of pain. It builds up and up and up while you're walking, starts off so you can just ignore it but within a few minutes of walking you feel like you're on a treadmill that the more you walk, the more gravity there is!

It's always better to say, "Look, there's a bench up ahead, I can stop when I get there and have a good ol' sit down" rather than just grinning and bearing it - every time I've done the latter, I get home and collapse on my bed (or sometimes the stairs if I don't quite make it to my bed) and do absolutely nothing for a few hours. Better to give yourself those few minutes on the bench, to be honest I've found even leaning against a wall for ten seconds really makes a difference. "

" Thanks for your question, because I was going to ask the question about my deep pain that I feel in my hips / butt / upper legs / lower back.
Whenever I squat down (like when I am doing photography) I can barely walk for the next week. I understand that it is easy to think that we have something that is killing us, but it is just the Fibro. I have had fibro for many years and I also understand the pain that comes from family / friends / doctors / etc. I don't know which is worst, the physical pain or the pain that others inflict from not excepting, understanding, or caring for what we are going through.
Personally, I spend a lot of time in bed because it is the only way I can feel comfortable. "

" Yes, my hips and lower back usually start to act up. I do have bursitis and stenosis in my back. The further I push it, the worse it gets. Then it takes days to get over it. I have to limit how much I walk. "

" I've suffered with FMS for years...not really sure when it started. But I have no problem being hugged (one of my most favorite things) nor with BP cuffs. But the pain is definitely there though. Across my shoulders, my hips, the back of my legs, the pads of my fingers and the bottom of my feet. So don't think just because those 2 things don't hurt that you don't still have FMS. And yes, walking is definitely painful. After work I can barely make it from my car to the house. Hope you find some relief!! "

" Oh my gosh! Yes! I get that pain, too, in fact it's pretty much with me all the time. Walking to do anything is awful....I thought it was just me! My feet kill me, my thighs, butt, well the whole leg hurts.

I feel like I look like a 90 year old woman when I walk. Before I had this knee replacement everybody said, "oh you're going to be good as new and all fixed after your surgery." I just smiled and said, "yeah." But inside I was thinking, "how is knee surgery going to fix fibro pain all over?"

And Doug, you're so right about the people in our lives not getting it at all. They have no idea how we feel all over, b/c we look pretty normal to them....until we start walking!

I guess this is all spilling out of me, b/c since my surgery I'm just now getting out and driving and doing things. And I feel like h#@*!

And, Shawna, it doesn't hurt me to be hugged, unless they really squeeze tight.

You are definitely NOT ALONE!!

" Yep yep yep! I will be moving along (like yesterday on my walk) and then I suddenly start tightening up and aching. At times, it feels as if I'm ripping muscles off the bone. If I push it, I will start losing balance and become unable to extend my leg, so I have to sit. If I rest at those first aches, though, I can usually get through whatever task I'm doing. Now that I know what is going on with my body, I move for around 30 minutes at a time and then rest for a bit. Of course, that is on what I have begun to label as "good" days. On bad days, I am trying to respect my limits and give in to flopping myself on the bed to avoid the agonizing pain. I don't like that part, but I've noticed that, in doing that, I will have more "good" days between bad days. I also stretch a lot and it does help (I look like an idiot at the office) and I will take hot baths when possible. In fact, I stretch my legs and lower back while I'm in the shower each morning. I've been lurking in the forum for a few months now, and I have learned that, if I've felt it, someone else has, too! "
